A3 Meet - 31st January - Lakeside, Thurrock, Essex (M25 J30 /31)

I was saying yes to changing the thread title lol

I'll get back to you next week about that weekend.

Lakeside isn't far from me really however my car is pants and I don't feel worthy of showing up in it lol

If it's an A3 then who cares! In fact even if it's not an A3 you're still a member of AS.net so come along and enjoy the company!

Stick you name on the list and we'll hope to see you there!

Thought i'd give this a bump,so far we have:

1. Nick (beanoir)
2. Jordan (smudge_don)
3. mhill
4. Scott134
5. Anton
6. PregnantNproud

a few from the 8L area have expressed an interest in coming along too.

Possibly an 8P convoy from the North, for the brave ones up for a roadtrip!

Mods - Is it possible to change the title of the thread to something like:

A3 Meet - 31st January - Lakeside, Thurrock, Essex (M25 J30 /31)

Thanks

Count me in sir's. Oh and bump.

I'm not too far from Lakeside so will try and make this if I'm free.

I'm in Milton Keynes so not that far to travle but will see what the misses says...

So its a maybe from me.

What time is this meet by the way?

Well I was initially thinking around 2pm to allow those travelling enough time to get home in the evening, but then I thought perhaps after 4pm would be better to allow the shoppers to disperse and give us more room to park up.

Open to thoughts on the matter, i've never arranged a "meet" and anybody with some experience on the matter feel free to pipe up!

Cheers

Well my other forum usually meets sort of early afternoon, between 1pm and 2pm

Otherwise people turn up late and a lot of attendees want to be home by like 7ish or something so people don't stay for long

well 2pm is probably best then, perhaps we need to find a place to hole up that serves food and drink. I'll have a think and come up with some more definate details.

Ok I have confirmation and I will be in Yorkshire that weekend I'm afraid. Sorry to miss this one out as I've become a big fan of meets after Ed38 and ADI :hi:

I hope to make the next one or I'll see you at GTI-Spring, AITP or ADI ;)

Thats a shame, but if it proves succesful then no reason why we can't arrange another one at some point.

I would have been up for this but my sister is having an engagement party that day in Kent so I'm unlikely to be able to make it... If I can work it so I can make it then I will.

I dont know, people these days just dont know where their priorities are....

Only kidding, thats a shame, and our loss i'm sure, if you do end up being able to pop along even for a short while then we'd look forward to meeting you.

Cheers

Nick

Thanks Nick, I will try... And I'll work on my priorities too!! Hopefully we can get another arranged, and maybe by then I'll actually have completed some of the mods I have got to do by then - (H&R spacers, 35mm H&R springs, Piper Cross panel filter, and a new Sline bumper with Black optics grill - all purchased and waiting to be fitted!)

Cheers

I'll be up for some (assumming nothing else crops up) - I'm only a few junctions down from Thurrock myself.. a bit to close for my likings.. gives the Mrs the perfect opportunity to do some credit card damage and that's the only condition she's coming along on! Haven't competely read the entire post and if we're still debating meeting point, how about the car park opposite Debenhams? Not the car park immediately in front of the store but on the other side of the road towards the back (if that makes sense)? It is generally quieter which is where we tend to park to avoid door dingers!

I will be back from Uni on the 31st so I might pop down depending on how my car gets on over the few days. I am Facelifting it and fitting heated seats.

Happy Days!

Joe

Right Folks, I had a look over at Lakeside today, given people's preference was to meet earlier at 2pm, then I think the best place to meet was by Frankie & Benny's, there seemed to be a fair amount of empty spaces round there (what does that say about F&B's?).

So, location below on a map, junction 30/31 on the M25 and follow signs to Lakeside Thurrock. If you need any further directions then give me a shout. Look forward to seeing people there!!

Ace cafe have alot of organised meets, so best off checking there web site to find out what the 'theme' for that night is...

They do turn away cars if your not the right brand... and I wouldn't want to park in the streets around there, easy to get to though, down the A10 on the 406 I think..

They do a wicked Chilli and Chips though!

I'm never returning to Ace Cafe again

Last time i tried to organise something, they were really rude to me!!!!

F&B's sounds good Nick, PM me your number in case i get lost/am running late

I'm moving into my new flat on Saturday but i should hopefully be able to make Sunday

Gutted I'm not going to have my new A3 in time to join for this... How often are there meets since I'm still quite new to the forum? Also, are there enough people on here from Scotland to have a decent meet up North here sometime? Would save a 5 hour trip every time... :)

Hi Dan,

Well i've not seen many 8P specific meets, I was trying to kick this off, then perhaps see how much interest we get and see how regular people want to do it.

So far, i'm not sure this is going to be too successful by the looks of the take up :(

Count me in.

Thurrock...

I used to make the trip down there ...YEARS ago... when we ran a car in the "Big Boys Toys" Beetle cup. That was 1993, I think... the inaugural year for the race series.

Haven't been down there since, but it'll always have a strong VW group connection in my mind... -Sorry I won't be able to make it.

A quick well done and thanks to the guys who came along, was a good chance to have a get together and grab some fish and chips!

Pictures coming soon we've been promised.

Will look at arranging another get together in a month or so if people think it works.

Cheers

Looking forward to the photo buddy. I should be able to make the next one :icon_thumright:

Sounds like a success. Look forward to details of the next one and the pics of this one :)

Shame I couldn't make it but maybe the next one.

Nick,

It was good to meet you and the others. Sorry guys but names escape me - brain's still yet to thaw!

Lets hope it's a bit warmer next time.

Thanks to Nick for organising this meet. It was good to put some faces to names and chat about all things Audi ... even if it was freeeeeeezing! (The hot tea certainly helped)

Here are a couple of quick shots I managed to take before the rain came down...

Count me in for the next one.
