Anyone know the VAG part number for this part?

I want to phone around tomorrow to see if I can get a genuine one cheaper than the £300,000 that the stealers want.

Well, they're nice and cheap.... Not! I couldn't find one on GSF Tuffty, EuroCarParts have them, but again, on the steep side...

Are they all as good as each other or what? I wouldn't of thought a pattern parts would be as good as a Bosch one...

Just out of interest, how much are the stealers quoting you for one ? i had a new one put in my car the other day, and it hasn't fixed it !

About 95 quid but I'm gonna try and beat them down!! Its defo a Lambda failure - Malfunction In Circuit = FUBAR

yeah, that's what i paid, i'll be interested to see how you get on, mine keeps bringing the warning light back on after it was changed.

Yeah,

I'm also probably going to need to buy a new sensor, so Im also on the look out as to where to get one.

I got an engine managment light yesterday and did a scan and got 2 codes:

17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Open Circuit
P1116 - 35-00 - -
17511 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Performance too Low
P1103 - 35-00 - -

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but if anyone can point as to how to locate this sensor on the car, that would be very helpful!

Also are these sensors reasonably straight forward to replace?

Thanks!

No worries. B1 S1 is the one directly on the downpipe, you can see it if you look down the back of the engine.

Your nearest GSF branches are : Cheltenham
Unit 36, Lansdown Ind. Est
Gloucester Road
Cheltenham

Give them a call mate, parts they sell are made by the same people that VAG get them from only they are half the price because they don't have the 4 rings...

It'll be a Bosch part I would imagine. On their site, you have to search for the A3 as they don't list S3 on the site... give them your reg number or VIN number and they will get a price for you.

Cheers, will have a look tomorrow and see if I can spot it.

Been looking for replacements and found 2..

On GSF they are £84.53 inc vat and post. I found them searching for "lambda" through A3 option.

On Eurocarparts I found the Bosch one, which is much cheaper at £55. Link here

Not sure which to go for :S The Bosch one should be fine shouldn't it?

Again, cheers for the help!

Well, I've ended up getting an NGK one from GMF in Gloucester (My mate works there... *trade*). £83 all done, although not trade it was about the same price as the stealers to be fair...

It'll be fine assuming you have an AGU engine?

had mine replaced as it had the same fault codes with a bosh unit from euro car parts but still showing same fault code coming up?????????????????????

Im guessing you brought a NGK stock code number - 0388 ? 4 wire fitted after the cat ?

does anyone know if the Genuine Audi Lambda sensor is Bosch or NGk, I have the Bosch one from Euro car parts but this is still bringing up erroe codes:

17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Open Circuit
P1116 - 35-00 - -
17511 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1: Performance too Low
P1103 - 35-00 - -

I have now returned the first one i bought as i thought it was faulty but im still getting the same error codes with the replacement.

Just wanted to update you guys, just had my car fail its mot on emmisions CO level was meant to be bellow 0.300 mine was ten ttime over at around 3.250,
decided to spend the day to get to the bottom of this problem so started by disconecting MAF which made no difference, took out spark plugs to check which were dirty but still in working order. so i decided to disconect and reconnect lambda sensor which still gave me the errors i was having earlier, So i disconnected the battery and left it for 10 minutes and then reconnected it, when i started it it seemed to start better and i took it for a raz and it deffinatley felt like it was running better also no fault codes reappeared.
Just visited the mot centre for a re-test and Wooohooo it passed so seem like all is good with the S3 once again :)

Welly, how is your NGK lambda so far? I am thinking of getting a Bosch version from ECP but I do not know if it will require extra work, such as cutting wires to fit...

EuroCarPArts supply a proper Bosch lambda sensor, which has a rather long wire with the correct plug for the A/S3, but it means that you can fit it before or after the CAT. Linky

It's a bit more expensive than what I paid for it last year though @ £70

I saw load of them on ebay, but what sold me on this is that it's Bosch and I didn't have to mess about with the wiring.

I got a Bosch one recently from ECP for my AMK, it cost just over £77 and it plugged straight in part number was 710442665 I believe, that was a post cat sensor though
