Is it possible for a turbo to not work in a particular gear. I've noticed that I don't seem to get as much pull in 3rd as i did. It feels very flat when I put my foot down. I have a 2000 1.8T Quattro.

Thanks

not really, but i guess its possible that its not working in any gear and its just most noticable in 3rd?

1st and 2nd are over pretty quickly, and 3rd tends to last a bit longer and also is the gear you use most when actually moving, so its quite possible it would seem like the gear affected the most.

Its possibly a fault which has caused the car to drop into limp mode limiting your boost to 4psi

Do you have vagcom, and if not whereabouts are you, someone nearby might have a lead.

I don't have Vagcom no. Is that the diagnostics software? I was messing round with the rear speaker wires from the amp last weekend and I blew the radio fuse. It seems to have started happening after this happened and wondered if I may have shorted something else in the process.

what revs?

It was originally pulling around the 3000 mark but I can't say i'm noticing anything before or after that when in 3rd. The car pulls well in 1st and 2nd but i couldn't say for sure that it's due to the turbo kicking in.
