hi all,
my boot keeps saying its open on the dash, but when i get out and check it its closed and because of this the alarm isnt set when i lock the central locking..any ideas???????

I had a similar problem with my bonnet showing as open all the time, just disconnected the sensor. It didn't cause an issue with the alarm though. Might be an unrelated coincidence ?

Cant recall where the boot sensor is, might be in the lock itself as a microswitch just as the door locks have, in which case, could be this thats playing up, spray the hooked lock with wd40 & manually push it in & then release with the boot handle/catch, do about 10 times then test it, cant check atm given time but working on car tomorrow so will check then.

Sensor disconnected would not arm alarm, will throw error.

It should have done, as the alarm doesn't arm if anything is seen as being open.

Yeap I'd concur with Mitch 100%, if bonnet sensor isnt pushed etc then alarm wont arm & indicators wont flash in a normal state

had exactly the same prob on the mrs 2.0 tdi, the microswitch is built into the lock, A common fault on the rear wiper on A3's is that they occur a leak and when the boot is shut this leak drips right onto the wire on the microswitch causing it to malfunction. I took the plastic cover off the inside of the boot and removed the wire to the boot lock to find it wet inside, dried this out and hey presto fully working again. Then replaced my faulty wiper motor to stop the leak.

The boot lock seems to have a plastic covering on the latch/hook, mine seems to have become perished minimally, so sometimes it gets caught & takes a slight tug to open boot, so trimmed it down & wd'd & opened better, but fear replacement lock needed, works for now
