he also goes by the name of "laurence" had this guy phoning me up to discus about a v8 project (i am also doing one) he is using the same ecu as me, after having a chat with my ecu man it came aparent that this was actually siena!!!!!!

If anyone has bought flywheels off him, be aware that some of them have been cracking around the bolt pattern due to the wrong grade material being used, this could have very dangerous conciquences.

I only have this information because he "laurence" told me over the phone and couldnt understand why it was happening.

not slagging here just be aware of what i have heard from the horses mouth, if a flywheel lets go it is not a pretty sight.

iam the same as jcb here as was about to bolt one on my rs4 tomorrow with a new clutch and rebuilt gearbox iam worrid to say the least!!!

More idle speculation i know, but i wonder if this would affect the V8 flywheel more than the others due to the 10bolt pattern?

The 1.8T's 6bolt pattern has plenty of meat around the holes, whereas the V8 has much less metal round the bolt interface due to having more holes drilled in it?

More info is needed certainly however!

here is what they should be constructed from,
if your flywheel is not fitted, you may be able to get an aluminium stockist to identify the material it is made from, he complained one that had come back because the centre had sheared off???!!!!!!

if your flywheel is steel, i dont think it is as bad however i still wouldnt be happy with one made from pig iron, here is the link to the steel flywheels from fidanza and the material used for them

like i said im not trying to stirr up trouble, i wasnt aware when he spoke to me that these had been distributed, i assumed he was testing them first before he sold them. i have just started up my own business (audi/vw/bentley specialist) so i know what its like trying to get a product off the ground, but flywheels are not something to be messed about with.

i just called deltavag (9.45am)and spoke with seina and he said there is no problem and never has been with the flywheels ! i explained to him that i have my son in the car often and hes only 15months and a flywheel letting go is like a bomb going off (had one let go on a gokart a lot lighter!)

he says there is no problem at all !!!

likewise just spoken to him and he is going to get back to me with the material details.
doesn't mean the conversaton about cracks didn't happen but as mine is steel I am pretty confident that it is thick enough not to be sawing my feet off.

my engine is being balanced as we speak.
any issue with 8kg saw blades coming off at high speed makes my **** twitch.

bit happier that it is a flywheel manufacturer and not some bloke with a lathe!!

Ha....I would rather have bad vibration than a fidanza foot saw!
have you seen some of the carnage that their riveted friction surfaces leave behind when they let go!!??

Right lets just nip this in the bud.

I have just spent the last 15 minutes speaking to Alan at TTV.
Whilst without a picture he can't absolutely confirm if the made the flywheel but he knows all concerned and I am pretty confident that it is their's.

They are machined from billet 4145 CroMoly. They have no reports of any flywheel issues. ever. either through a reseller or direct.
they make flywheels for Formula Palmer, Ginetta series etc etc.
Very impressive track record and they are not a big name as they work the race world not the MaxPower world.

IMO they are what they claim to be and we needn't all start buying engine/transmission blankets for our exploding flywheels.
