Hi All,

Some of you may remember i had a very nice 2001 S3 about 18 months ago but had a little shunt with a dear and a ditch lets just say they won.

Thinking about getting another one now winter is coming, the one i like the look of is an 03 plate done 58k but not had a service since last April. what service will it be due now and any thoughts on the cost?? other than that looks like a nice car.

Thanks

60k or 6 years is meant to be when the cambelt is done.

When you say last april do you mean april 08 or 09? Servicing should be done atleast once every 10k.

Thanks for the fast reply. it was last done april 08.

Well overdue then. Doesnt seem like its been looked after as well as I'd like.

Needs service straight away then and unless its had the cam belt done allready then your looking at a good £300 or more for that full service.

Good point to haggle with the seller on.

So would you all suggest to steer clear or buy it and get it serviced straight away? I think i can get it for a good price.

thanks All

Might be on Audi Variable Servicing so it being serviced in April 08 doesn't necessarily mean its due one but then I wouldn't bother with continuing with AVS anyway and return to a decent service schedule.

If it could be had at the right money a would say go for it and then have it properly serviced including the cambelt and waterpump that way its done out of the way aswel.

so how much for all that then? what you chaps value an 03 model silver with black leather done 55k at?

It could be on longlife servicing so April 08 and with those miles on might be right Longlife does about 18k or every 2 years. I jave left mine on longlife indication but change the oil every 12 months which is about 3k for me :)

oh and why not service it yourself, oil and filter is easy, airfilter and pollen filter easy. New set of plugs (I always do this when I get a new car) Haldex oil and filter if its never been documented. Then look at getting the cam belt done with water pump and the car will be sorted.

It may be also be ready for discs and pads but just guessing as Ive changed mine and Im on 54k on a 02 plate.

ok just spoken to Audi customer services to get a spec check and service history.

This is what they said.
01/05 17000
05/06. 31000
04/08 48700

(By the way selling Me Leon FR TFSI 07/07 done 30500 black with 18's and blue tooth.)

The best idea when it comes to servicing and replacing parts is do as much as you can yourself then avoid the main dealerships for the things you cant do.

At the end of the day it will only be the most anal of people who wont touch a car because all the stamps aren't Audi when you come to resell.

Yup, that looks like the pattern for AVS to me... I think normal service intervals are like 9k for oil and filter. I drop mine every 5k now as I can get decent oil and a filter from GSF for just over £20...

If you have seen my build thread, you will see the result of leaving it more than 10k miles in between oil changes... its not pretty and not natural...

My car has a lot more miles on it than the one your are looking it but if you do buy it change your oil regularly, sod AVS!!
