Right i bought a generic kit from ebay of xenon lights, same i had on my leon so should be fine.

But where have people put there balasts?

I have the big ones so :(

Also how do i remove the headlight, i looked in past threads someone was talking about a diagram they made but i couldnt for the life of me find it.

Please help guys im fed up with having lights like a miners hat.

Hi Nutkin,
The ballasts are pretty straight forward to fit as soon as youv'e taken the headlight out. When i did the upgrade on mine the ballasts that came with the kit were a decent size and fit nicely in the cut out that is at the bottom of each headlight fastened with (strong velcro) or you can screw if your careful. As for removing the headlights unplug the connections then there are x4 star headed bolts to each headlight, x2 of them you will see on the main front panel (remove these) and x2 are lower down at the rear of the headlight, they are a bit awkward to see and you may have to move a couple of covers and push cables etc to one side to get to them if needed.(just slaken these 2 off as they are only guides. I think on mine the install took approx an hour. Hope this helps mate.

Woorlord did a very good guide to fitting the ballasts in the headlight HERE. I doubt the full size one would fit though.

Taking the lights out is pretty easy really. You just need to have a long enough Torx driver to get the lower screws loose. This guide should help:

Out of interest, Those covers? where can i get one from :D

You after the engine covers - ref "QuattroJames" info on headlight removal?
This has been covered many times and will greatly depend on your engine option - check out the "Search this Forum" button on the B6 section and try a text search on "engine covers".

i have a 1.8T which seems good so im on my way to audi tomorrow with a list of parts ti get, hope it comes quick as id like them for trax this weekend.

All the part numbers you will need are in THIS THREAD.

I just picked up and fitted some engine covers, now I just need to get the dremel out on the RS4 bottle cover as it's a bit tight.

The part numbers are:

1) 8E281944701C
2) 8E2819422A01C
3) 8E0103927D01C

woop all fitted now, take some pics later. Any advice on what led sidelights i can get. the ones i have dont draw enough current and sort of flash on and off, im assuming more = better so just get some with loads of leds i guess.

Nutkin,
I got the same issue with the kit i got off Ebay, the ballasts are huge.
Have you fitted yours? If so where did you put your ballasts?

I'm also looking at maybe buying another kit with slimmer balasts and flogging the one Ive got.

One balast is in the bit near the power steering fluid

the other is squashed on top of the lamp under the air intake :) nt pretty but its a place. just need them aligned. went for a drive and both are pointing at the ground :(

Still better than stock though :D
