Hey folks,

Just over a week until i can pick up my new car :) Looking forward to it, sad to see my current car go as it was my first car.

Just wondering if there is a check list to take when i go to pick up my new car or any tips to ensure that everything is there thats meant to be there.

Also in relation to my old car what do i have to take with me to give to them? car have to be spotless? full tank of fuel? etc

True to form the service has still been shocking. Emailed them on the 13th to ask for the reg number to sort out insurance...told hed let me know by 18th at the latest...still nothing! I emailed on friday but no reply as yet!

Im wondering if its just my local audi branch thats P*** or if everyones like that.

Anyway - thanks in advance.

Its a trade in i take it? If it is i definitely wouldnt bother puttin fuel in it, 1/4 of a tank will be fine, any more and they would prob syphen (sp?) it out..

I dont imagine you would have to clean it either to be honest, most of the trade ins at my work are usually filthy and have no fuel in it!

thanks tommy!

In respect of going to pick the car up on the 1st september is there anything i should take with me as a check list to make sure im not losing out or missing anything. Apart from the obvious look around the car to make sure there are no scratches etc.

Someone also said that when picking the car up to make sure the car isnt wet - its usually a ploy by them to hide any scratches?

Check the mileage - should be less than 10, any more than this then questions have to be asked.

Have a think about the options that can be changed using VAG.COM because the dealer has diagnostic equipment which can also change these to what the customer wants.

In particular think about the door un-locking. When you press the unlock button on the remote do you want just the drivers door to unlock, requiring a second press to unlock the rest of the doors. This is how the A3 comes as standard but it can be changed so that all doors unlock on a single press. This is how I prefer mine and my dealer changed it before I took delivery.

Also the doors will Auto-lock at around 15mph. Again this is how the car will comes as standard but it can be turned-off if you don't like it.

My instruments are set so that they are always illuminated when the ignition is on, but I don't think this is standard either.

It's worth checking thinking about these and getting them changed before you take deliver because the dealer should be happy to change them without charging. After delivery they may well charge to make any changes.

Try not to leave without champagne or flowers or both!

Don't ask though, it should be a parting gesture.

Fortunately not all dealers are rubbish like yours.

I also am collecting on the 1st and have already sat in my car. Also received by registration and sorted out my free 7 day Audi insurance.

1) Check that you have all your options & everything works

2) Ensure you get a spare key, wheel locks etc

3) Give as little fuel in the old car as reasonably possible

4) Keep the Road Tax from the old car for a refund

They seem pretty switched on - what dealer are you using?

Are you allowed to do that?lol. id have thought that once you hand the car over to them the tax etc is theres? Ideal if its not - ive got a few months left yet :D only about £70 worth but still that'll do a few beers....or a pair of shoes for the good lady once she finds out no doubt :ermm:

Welcome to the forum K

What your current car now? Regarding your car you dont have to put petrol in or clean it up. Keep your road tax and get a refund. Did it to my local Audi dealer when i traded in my old car. Also they gave me a card, flowers and champagne. So i dont see why you not get it! lol..I'd take a list with what ever extra's you ordered and check it over. Also as Stazs if there more miles than 30miles ask them why. Get a spare key and check if you have the wheel locking bolts. Get some photo's up once you have the car. Enjoy it mate

I've bought from Dockland Audi (London) and the dealership actually told me they would hand back the road tax!

...So it'll be shoes for the Missus then!!
