Hi,

Anyone have this option when you put it in reverse.. Kind oa cool feature.

Anyone know if this can be enabled by VAG COM on a audi s3, I seen it as an option.

its a totally different mirror than a standard one..

its not just when your reversing... its for when people are behind you and thay have their light on... stops the lights from shinning too bright and so allows you to see better..

worth while option as the standard mirrors look cheap

i used to have one on my last s3 and in the dark it was a nightmare, you could never tell who was behind you and when your booting it i'd prefer to see who is trailing me or keep and eye out for cars with Roof Racks.

Auto dipping mirror is a factoy fit option, I would not bother to go fit one, people have varied opion of this system.

come to think of it can't remember the last time I was dazzled by someone approaching from behind...

chuckys3 is asking about the feature that dips the passenger-side mirror down to show the rear-wheel/kerb when reversing (not the auto-dimming feature which is a completely different feature).

This feature is available on models where the exterior mirrors are adjustable from inside and is quite useful if you want to avoid kerb damage to your rims in a tight parallel park. It only works when both a) the passenger's side external rear view mirror is selected on the adjuster knob and b) reverse gear is engaged.

This function is not available on the driver's side external mirror (although it can be enabled via VAG).

How and why have you found this thread, where you just bored?

the welcome section is usually the first port of call for a first post ;)

Wow, how did such an option lay dormant for so long. Seeing as how it is back to life, is this something that can be enabled on all S3's, as I always put my mirrors down manually if I need to see what is going on. Most times I just park where there is no kerb, or well away from it

I'd like to know this too... Any ideas?

I read a while back of a mod where someone got their mirrors to fold in, but this is the first I heard of the dipping down for parking. It is a great idea, but one I feel may be an urban legend :tumble:
