Rach's '00 TT's roofrails have corroded. I've been told by numerous sources on the TT forums that they're covered under Audi's 12yr bodywork warranty. But... my local dealer doesn't want to know and claims that they are not covered at all. The fight goes on...

So... my '00 A4 has the usual boot handle corrosion. This boot handle has been rubbing on the boot itself though... on both sides... and now the boot is bubbling up in two places.

What I want to know is, will this be covered under the 12yr warranty from Audi? If it is, would the boot handle, the offending piece of trim, be covered also?

Suggestions / comments / advice welcome.

as far as i understand it, the trim isnt covered, which is why they reject claims on the roof rails, they say its trim, not the actual bodyshell.

Bootlid itself on the otherhand should be covered i'd imagine.

My 00' a4 also has the boot lid going, but theres also rust appearing on one of the wheel arches and coming out from under the black plastic sill cover in the rear door, as well as at the bottom corner of the rear screen, i keep meaning to stop by and tyre to get a claim in.

its all on the passenger side rear 1/4, but theres no sign of a respray, very odd!

I think you have to have a FASH in order for them to honour the warranty. I also thought it was only 10 years.

I've found a few spots of rust on mine, especailly under the door trims, but don't think Audi would be even remotely interested.

Delete the facelift licence plate plinth, and you'll be fine.

i have recently taken my a6 avant to audi to be inspected as both the roof gutters are rusting on the inner edge there inspector looked at it and then asked me to take it to car cosmetics to have the paint thickness checked and photographs taken to back up the claim with audi. car cosmetics assured me it was original factory paint so i await audis decision the people i have spoken to regards this problem say they cant see there being a problem with the warranty claim this will be the second a6 avant to have its roof repaired that i have owned the the first one was repaired at audenshaw audi they had it three days but gave me a courtesy car and done a cracking. job so rather than keep guessing if its covered phone audi and get it inspected forgot to mention the car does not have to have a fash

I thought it was only 10years too. Yendall how old is your A6? Has it got a FASH?
