I didn't like the way the triple guage pod intruded into the car, so after so dismantling and soldering i made this thing below. It#s far from perfect but i like the effect. Narrow band AFR, Boost ( doesnt do in/HG) and oil pressure, i aim to get some small text stickers made up just to finish it off a bit.

nice clock..lol nah not really looks cool

Like it mate.

Does that mean when you hit 88MPH at Bruntingthorpe you'll go back in time?.. If so the smart money is on me! lol

Oh yeah.. you need to get rid of your old pods/gauges?

Nice one.. I'll give you something for it though.

If you bring it to GTI that'd be good.

I like the idea of that, very neat.

Have to admit I do have a vague interest in going to full digital instrumentation, ala Astra GTE (Hello Dan Gliballs)

I used to have one Astra GTE16V miss the nippiness same colour as Dan as well:yes:

Nice mate.....don't forget to set your alarm for work LOL. Seriously though, it looks good Mark. Nice to see something a bot different.

Cheers guys, it is different, I will post the pics i have in a bit. My idea originaly was to buy these and swap the displays for red, but they are a bespoke combined unit, so that wasnt posible sadly.

There are some £20 LED guages floating around on Ebay, i may take a punt at somepoint and see how these can be dissasembled, lol
Originaly i bought these, one Oil pressure, one Boost, and one AFR. My intention was to actually do something like this from the outset

Once dissasembled i realised the board was double sided and would be more difficlut to desolder than first thought. So i stuck them into an Apillar pod instead

I didnt like the way it looked in the A4 so had another bash, we de soldered the displays form the boards , and i hacked up some CAT 5 cables to make links from board to display

The pod is the usual MDF and spray paint jobbie, with a smoked perspex window in it. It wasn't quite dark enough so it got some window tint on the reverse side, but this bubbled slightly when hot gluing so will need to be re done.

I used the wrinkle finish paint to attempt to blend it in slightly and remove the need for my filling/sanding to be 100% as i was running out of patience:sob:

Also did a similar thing to the TQS. As the guages are digital they take the engine readings from senders in the engine bay, so it was a case of running the wires from the pillars where they were to behind the dash to connect to the display. I used the opertunity to swap the dash for a fully operational working DIS

They look like standard enough 7 bar LED displays... You should be able to buy red ones from maplin or wherever and swap them over...

They are self contained with 11 pins and digit display, i couldnt find anything close on maplins or RS, OR even searching the part number
