Mine went bang as detailed in another thread, sludge issues.

The small timing chain is broken, turbo partly seized, a few bent valves but i've had enough. Its perfect in every other respect and would make a good pile of spares, alloys, sport suspension, symphony II stereo etc, sport brakes.....

Anyhoo, I need to gather some cash to get a runabout till my company car comes thru so if anyone wants the B6 for spares or repair, I am open to offers. I know the extent of the repairs needed, and no sensible offer will be refused. Its cheap cheap, and you could sell the bits on ebay till the cows come home.

Swap for a cheap motor or enough cash to buy a runner.....

which DIS have u got?

trip computer (toggle on the wiper stalk)?

are you breaking or looking for somebody to take the whole lot off you?

standard sport DIS mate, the ****** one, range only etc.

Looking for best offer but around £750 if poss, no tax and mot just about out.

Good nick though, and all other parts useable since only fails are head & turbo etc.

Would suit someone wi a B5 wantin an upgrade look etc ?

I bought it a year ago, book price is still 4.5k (running obviously) so its not a bad deal, would need it all to go at once as no space to break it, plus need to buy a cheap runaround for work...

cheers mate, I wish you were closer too ;)

LOL....seriously I need to get back on the road as my job is under threat if I cant get there every day and I work 30 miles away, no / little public transport here either, its out in the sticks!

I guess its the case for alot of us, being right up there is a long way for majority of us and thats a good price to to the right person aswell.

Evil can you do me a favour and post some pics up of the car because you never know, I might but nothing 100%, have some interest for someone...

yeah mark, its in fife, parked up at my mum's after the old man rescued me.

J7uss, no problem mate, will dig out the photobucket pics.

Its picked up a couple of minor scratches and 2 tiny tesco trolley dints on the boot since these were taken but mostly the same :)

Hi James, personally I wouldnt part with more than a grand for a car with a blown engine, albeit its the top end and turbo, not the big ends as they were still running in oil, but its likely shagged anyway. Thats why I thought I could raise some cash and use that for a cheap runner till something else comes along.

Plus its a tow away job and it's no lightweight ;)

Hi James, personally I wouldnt part with more than a grand for a car with a blown engine

It's the exact dilemma I had when my idler pulley broke and the belt skipped. It cost me over £4k to eventually sort it and people thought I was mad. But whats a non-runner worth? £1k? Maybe more if you break it yourself - but I just needed wheels - and the car is worth £6k plus so it made sense to invest.

I was in the same dilemma with mine, I paid 5.5k for mine in Nov 2006 and when the engine went bang I thought about just selling it as it is but at that time I was just getting used to the car and loved it, ended up paying £3200 for recon fitted. Spending nearly 9k in a matter of 8weeks was heart breaking but I had to do it else id be stuck with scrap...

Thats when I thought what the hell, ive spent all that I may aswell spend a little more and kit it out. After id finished buying Kit/wheels - I was nearing the 11k mark!!! Wounded...11k at that time would have bought me the Model I wanted in the first place which was the 190 Sline...:sorry:

LB, yeh its the red DIS.

@all, yup, I face a huge bill since I have no access to another engine and noplace to keep the car long term, so its got to go. I can sell various bits espec if getting the other bit in exchange to put back on like wheels, trim etc but the shell needs to be rollin etc.

There is no way I could afford £3000 to fix it, let alone £1800 even for a second hand engine (thats what i am getting quoted) and then if the new job comes off today I will have a company car of my choosing so won't need a motor.....

Sorry to hear about the car mate, hope you get the new job.
I live just north of Aberdeen and so would have to get the car recoverd 100 miles or so and I'm not sure what that would cost hence I was wondering what's the minimum you would take for it?
I've just spent over £1000 on parts alone getting mine running right but I could still do with a lot of bits and pieces including wheels.
Cheers

If you can get the engines at this price Evil then you know yourself it would be worth getting it in, least then you can claw some money back hey - I just hate to see people in this situation because obviously I know what its like - BUT on the other hand you might not be that bothered because you are getting (or will be if the the jobs comes through) a company car so maybe takes the sting away.

Lets just hope the Job does come through though Evil.:icon_thumright:

cheers lads, never realised there were cheap engines around, after the horror stories on here, just shows you! I would be better to fix it yeh, if its a cheap engine and the car can be stashed somewhere till it gets done, will chew on that for a bit...

@Marcos, I would be really daft to take less than £750 for it mate, if it was running fine it would be worth £4500 easy eh, sorry bud I cant give it away, paid £6000 for it cash just 12 months ago.

I was just spewing at what happened, but sensibly fixin would be the option to take all else considered, will see what the wife reckons. She doesnt dictate what happens but she is in this too so better get her perspective cos she's the sensible-head :)

EDIT: nah, £600 nicker is out of the question to fix it just now, so I guess back to plan "A", but if that doesnt happen for a fair price, then I'll stash it at a mate's till I can fix it then just sell it on but if anyone comes up wi £750 they can tow it away.

Yeah Marcos - that was cheeky! :asskicking: ...but you dont know till you ask eh!

Thats more like it evil, get it sorted, all in you prob looking at no more than 1K judgin by whats about so even when you sell it, say for example you get £4500 then £3500 looks better than £350 eh...I mean £750!:eyebrows:

Evil it would no doubt be better for you to fix it and sell on, hope your wife agrees.
How did your interview go? good news I hope.
If you do decide to sell it as is let me know £750 sounds good but I'd have to check with my wife to see if she could live with another dead Audi on the drive.
Hope it works out whatever you decide.

LOL.

im now drivin a 10 year old loaner shitbucket hondae civic shamone, what a come down from the audi. Still, it beats walking. Just.

:sob:

Stick with it Scotty and look for a new engine if you can its gotta be worth a lot more than than £750. What was the mileage when it finally gave in?

Fingers crossed for the company car :icon_thumright:

Evil just a thought, I hear there's a good engine builder in Dundee, don't know the name of it but I could try and find out if your interested, a friend of mine down Perth way told me about it when I re-built my top end.

EDIT: nah, £600 nicker is out of the question to fix it just now, so I guess back to plan "A", but if that doesnt happen for a fair price, then I'll stash it at a mate's till I can fix it then just sell it on but if anyone comes up wi £750 they can tow it away.

Surely it's worth spending £600 on a £750 car and selling it for £4500? Or even £4k - thats a good investment really, rather than letting it go for £750. Even if you need to credit card it for 6 months. The risk being it costs more than you envisaged which can easily happen. But you don't need it to be as perfect as you would have it - just to be saleable.

How did it go today?

Hi Marcos, yeah mate if you come up wi the £750 you can have it, and it is in good nick otherwise.

The final interview went very well I reckon, so fingers crossed thats nailed it. It was a practical one wi a senior engineering dude and I aced that bit so hopefully its in the bag cos I could do wi a bit of luck. I have been made redundant 3 times in a row in the last 2 years as each company laid off after a short time and its been a reeeeal struggle, I got 5 sprogs (teens mind you) but they eat like locusts!

Never mind, onwards and upwards.......

Evil I'll run it by the wife to see what she thinks, but sleep on it mate, it sounds like it's worth a lot more.

posts happened while i was typing!

I guess its a possible from the dundee guy Marcos, I work in DD just now so wouldnt be hard to go see him etc, cheers.

To all, good advice and I know you are right, I guess im just ****** off and really am skint, the "old" new job hasnt paid out a months salary yet, so im toiling to keep getting there every day and afford food, never mind out else. Its all been downhill since gettin paid off at christmas and they handed me £28 wages as the company was bankrupt and thats all we got. That was a great crimbo present eh lol.

I'll try and find out the name of the place, It may take me a few days thought as my mates away at the minute, but keep smiling your due some good luck by the sounds of it.

Cheers pal, yeah thats cool. I will take a few days to think about what to do next, and see what the outcome of the job is before i do anything, I think thats best cos im still raging that it happened.

thanks for all the advice and support guys, it is very much appreciated.

alternatively just put it on ebay,i would think you would get a lot more than £750 for it.

Evil, I would hold out, and get that B6 where she belongs - back on the road.

You've had some pretty bad luck, by the sounds of it, you deserve a break.
I wouldn't even offer you £800 for your car, for the mere reason I'd feel bad, it's not great profitting off someone's misfortune, here on ASN, we're like a big family / community too.

Good luck with the car, and your new job.

Thats terrible mate.

If you decide to break it, can I have your sunvisor clips? LOL!

Man keep the car and sell one of the sprogs that way its win win.

One mouth less to feed plus you get the car fixed

But seriously putting it undercover till you are in a better position would make more sense in the long run and then pick up an engine and drop it in, in the mean time use the run about.

If you lived nearer I would have popped up when you was ready to drop an engine in and gave you a hand putting it in to keep the cost down and had this been 5 months ago I would have sold you my old AJL B5 engine from my stolen A4 which you could have paid me when you was all sorted.

I think thats what i'll do, it can sit under a tarp until I get an engine, even if it takes a while, you are all right in what you say.

I am still amazed at the family spirit on this forum, cos I have joined every one from Alfa to VW as the cars changed over the years, and you guys are the best.

Thats terrible mate.

If you decide to break it, can I have your sunvisor clips? LOL!

Yours gone aswell?? Mine has too, so foookin annoying, gotta get it sorted! Just being lazy I guess..:)

:eyebrows:...Doc, fancy fitting my Milltek for me!!!lol

Evil, I said before didnt I, you know it makes sense, You'll be sorted in no time then you can go back to loving the "4Rings" again.
...Fly me, the Mrs & the kids up for a week when you get the engine (preferably when its a scorcher) and ill give you a hand fitting it.(whilst the Mrs and Kids are in the pool at the 5Star hotel you'll book us in);)

its not nice to hear that mate but would you take 700 for the car
