I'm thinking of buying cruise control for my s4 off stoke audi, and I'm going to
fit it myself but I dont have vag-com.

Is it a simple job to install it?
Is it simple to do the computer stuff?

I'm wondering if there is anyone around the manchester area who would be
intrested in earning a few quid in exchange for reprograming/seting it up for
me? (with me doin the installing then driving to where ever)

also my parking sensors have packed up so a diagnostic on which one has
gone would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I've always found that cruise control = lower economy.... although it's more likely to save your license when you see your speed in big bold letters in the dash and it stops it creeping back up after you've slowed down for a town, etc ;)

£155 sounds steep....

I know he's based in London, but as an indication of prices, HazzyDayz charges £180 for supplying, fitting and VAG-COM'ing an OEM Audi cruise control unit... and he can do the diag's on your parking sensors too.

He also fits those, so will probably be able to offer repairs on that at a guess.

£50 callout to Manchester, but either head down to London or find somebody local (who will presumably be even cheaper?!?).

I was thinking about Cruise as well, if you speak to hazzydayz then maybe he could do us a discount?

pjmseedy PM'd me saying he could beat the price that stoke audi gave, replied telling
him the details of my car, just waiting for him too get back to me now. Does your car
have the MFSW? My car doesn't so apparently I need a new steering wheel ecu or
something? If you do have the MFSW you dont need one.

Who's Hazzydayz? is that the dude from stoke audi?

Will you be looking to fit it your self? (I'm thinking of doing to save some cash)

If you are, we would also need to get the vagcom stuff sorted out which shouldn't be
too much of a problem if we can find someone around Manchester willing to helpout.
Theres a thread with people offering their vag-com services for free (with offers from
1 dude from stockport and 1 dude from manchester)but I'd be more than willing to pay
some one for thir help.

Cheers

My car doesn't have a multifunction steering wheel and no new ECU was required for my Cruise conversion.

They quoted me 250 at awesome, if i can get the parts for 150 and fit it myself, ive saved 100.

Also not too sure about awesome......had my s4 serviced by them 6 month ago (supposedly to manufacturers specifications) and just found out that they put semi synth oil in it!!

Or you could buy yourself vagcom for now & any future coding/diag & install yourself mate, go on get your hands dirty.

B7's all had the same steering ecu anyway so upgrade wasnt needed, B6's were different cause had different versions of ecu, guess audi wised up to making different versions was more costly for them.

I need a new ECU already looked into this before... I was also thinking of having my DIS upgraded I hear this is possible!
and to be honest I am not the best with all things cars so would prefer for some else to do this at the right price.

Shall I contact VW cruise?

Ryan,

Your on Craigyb's doorstep, give him a call, and he can sort it for you for a fee. If you do it yourself, for god sake disconnect the battery, and earth yourself, you will be inches away from your airbag. Boom, and your covered in powder, with ringing ears.

Cragyb's web site is http://www.tclsatnav.com/

Tell him CockneyBoy sent you

Highly unlikely, worked on many cars with airbags being taken on/off & not once had this issue with battery connected, earthing himself, he will be grounded anyway, lol.

hmmm... I thought it was £180-odd supplied and fitted!?

I'm within 10miles of HazzyDayz, so they do the callout for free.

What DIS work are you having done?

They must have invested in an immo reader then to fit a new dis/cluster to get the skc out.

I know Gareth replaced the red DIS in his A4 (B6, 1.8T) with a full colour one... very tempting!!

Ah if was just DIS LCD swap then no immo coding needed.

So if you can get a colour DIS screen then its just a case of soldering it in?

Might just be a ribbon or push on connector, cant remember from my cluster work on the 8P, but soldering that is fun, but not impossible.

I am fairly certain you cannot change the lcd display, it is a whole new instrument cluster and you need the SKC code to reprogramme the immobiliser. About £700 from Audi!! Some people have done it.
