Well i got up today to find that some **** had ripped both my door mirrors off. They where the real alloy ones so have no dout been taken to me bodged onto another car.
SCum like these should be set on fire.
I have also noticed about 5 dents due to this .
I rang audi to ask about the prices fro new mirrors and bases... they come in at around £400 plus vat each. then there is the damage to the doors and rear quarter ive found. all in all im looking at around £2k to sort this.
Great realy when some **** will be "maxing " them onto some other car

holy sh*t dude, really gutted for you, these people should castrated with a pair of bricks, hope can find a cheaper fix!

somebody should rig a grenade into the miror so if some chav pulls them off it pulls the pin out and the mirror explodes. might make a mess of your car but it would be worth it.

sorry to hear that mate, im sure it used to only cost around £500 for both mirrors from Audi..... best asking Voorhees who has bought some recently and would mostly likely know the options and prices....

its one of those, you wish you'd caught them at it to break their knee caps

Its beacuse the bases are ****** too.
A mate in the trade could get them for about 280 plus vat each, The insurance company will be sorting the work as when added to the bodywork damage... too much, My pockets are only so deep

Sorry to here about your car and what happened. Hope it gets sorted soon. And it really does f*cking p*ss me off when sh*t like this happens. I'd just love to catch them trying to do some thing to my car.

i,ve had the same thing happen to me on the new s3, and they cost me £480 through a mate who worked for bmw. and when i had my old s3 i upgraded to the alloy ones and they cost me £600 just supplied, the new ones are plastic sprayed silver and are cheaper, it makes you sick though because they could only use the covers off them and it cost you all that to replace them both

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! they only took my mirror and damaged my base few weeks ago!!! NOB HEADSSSSSSSSSSSS! Man that sucks

Tim you forgot to mention that I also had the Chav Mod to my side mirrors
the new ones are plastic sprayed silver and are cheaper

thats exactly what the replacements are.

Paul get a pager and proximity alarm as that'll make them think twice

If caught these scumbags should be castrated to prevent further reproduction

Sorry to hear abut your loss Paul... Have you spoken to your insurance to see if they cover this sort of thing? I know you might lose your NCB, but might be worth it over paying 2k out of your pocket.

Becoming a regular thing.
Keep an eye out on ebay they normally end up on there
In the mean time hope you find out who had them and deal with them the only way they understandwith a big bat or something simular

I think everyone on here with the chrome/Ally mirrors should whip the covers of and get one of those ultra violet postcode markers, That way when they come up for sale on ebay, Try and get in contact with the winner ( i know you can't see the winner's ID ) but maybe through ebay and kindly ask them to check, sooner or later someone will get caught out, or am i thinking into this too much!!

That's a gd idea... I had one of these on my clio after it got broke into, you could have it beep when someone gets to close or on silent for stealth attack...either way, should prevent somebody carrying out damage to the car...shouldn't be to expensive for just the microwave sensor and the pager...

Let's face it, if you was to buy from fleabay, the last thing you would want to know is where they came from if you won the auction and have them sitting in front of you. I think most would just fit them on and be done with it.

No mate, i do know it was a toad alarm though...was originally designed for convertibles i think, you could leave the top down and arm the car, as soon as somebody broke the invisible force field surrounding your car the alarm would warn you off, or if fully breached...go off. The pager would let you know if any one was hanging around the car...never thought about one for the S3, the clio was easy to break into, people used to just bend the door because the metal was crap...but if its mirrors your worried about, it could be a very good idea...the beeping would warn theives off before they would have a chance to even damage your car...

Yep mine does exactly that
Its all Audi's fault for building a car with desirable wing mirrors and a casio watch alarm for security.

immobiliser is fort knox like though.

pay your £200 insurance excess. job done. end off

not end of as if they return they will do it again,UPGRADE YOUR ALARM as I have and also some extras but cameras are useless if someone puts a hankie over their face your super night vision self focusing stuff is obselete by an andrex....end of.

Just an update...
I found the seller of my mirrors on ebay... told the police...
they did nothing other than warn me if i took any action other than telling them i would get a criminal record. Thank you for that mr plod.

So... i had to sort it,
Insurance job,
But unlike most i refused the painted silver plastic mirrors audi sell as the "s line " ones. and demanded the same alloy ones as it rolled out from the factory with.
It was a big head ache but... they are here and on now, So... hopefully thats the end of it.

Go to a nice busy pub for a few hours, make sure you are seen, meanwhile "unknown" persons visit ebay sellers home for a chat.

I glad the Police were able to act when the theifs details were dropped on their laps.......

doesnt suprise me at all.to busy doing people for 36 in a 30 and such like thats why they arnt intrested.doesnt bring any money in for them so not intrested in such things.and they wonder why people take matters into their own hands

glad you manage to sort your mirrors out anyway :icon_thumright:

would it not be a good idea to get your reg number etched on them either the inside or perhaps nice and neatly on the outside towards to bottom somewhere ?

Just a though.

that wont stop the scumbags having them away and the police still wouldnt be intrested to be honest.waste of time

The listing ended early which was why i kept ringing the police... they still did ****** all.

The mirrors they stole had marks on them which made it clear they were mine... still pc plod didnt want to do a thing

The basic feeling i have from this is...
Steel anything you like. Sell it on the internet and make money.
NO come backs and if the owner turns up to confront you... THEY get a criminal record.

Makes me sooo glad i tried to do it the legal way...

Name and shame the seller? Ive searched ebay for finished listings, theres a few on there.

would be an idea so people can see if anything else comes up in the future

Couple of points on this.

I know Toad do alarms with external sensors, & also Clifford too.
I have the concept 50 which has it, older alarm now, but effective & it's a thatcham cat1.
I've also got a set of alloy mirrors sitting in a box if anyone is interested. not stolen I assure you. They came from a scrappy.
Looking for 200 ONO. if anyone's interested. I'll post up pic's too if there's any interest.
