This particular one doesn't look so hot to me. Like its on jacked up suspension! :wtf:

It does look to sit high, I must admit.

Is it just me or is there very little difference (if any) with the front end between the S-line and Sport/SE/Base models? There was a much more obvious difference pre-facelift.

I like the styling of the facelift facelift if it doesn't have the DRLs. Something weird going on with that suspension though!

yes.

there has been about 3 facelifts to the A3 S-line!

Then facelifted to single grill

Then the bumper was adjusted slightly to this

And now there is the facelift of the facelift in the original post!

Yeah it does look a bit bland on the outside - especially compared to mine which is the same colour with the same wheels. Don't think the optics grille and lack of an S-Line grille badge is doing it any favours. Plus it is jacked up like a tractor.

:iagree:

The new bumper just doesn't look as aggressive as the previous S-line for some reason.

Looking at the pic of the facelift and of the previous A3s it becomes clear that the front headlights will not be able to be retrofitted? Or are my eyes deceiving me? The new ones seem sharper towards the grille?

Saw a few of the face lifts in Audi Cambridge...

I have to say I am trying my best to like it... Personally i hate it...

Consider this is a S-Line model it looks damn ugly!

The mirrors look are far too big aswell.

I saw a black version s-line and it too was ugly :(

I was well impressed with the new A4's in black with Xenon's...

lovely but at 43k ouch!

I've been totally underwhelmed by the facelift ever since it appeared online and i like it less and less every time i see it in both A3 and S3 format. They've just changed it for the sake of it and haven't made ANY improvements visually whatsoever!

The one and only thing i do like is the S3 style grey insert into the front spoiler.... Nothing else.

I thought the S-line was supposed to have chrome surrounds on the foglights and a different style (sportier) bumper.....that looks like a Sport front end to me.

It's definitely an s-line but it's very very basic. Small wheels and the front spoiler doesn't have the aggressive splitters at either side. No doubt they'll introduce these as another mini facelift!!!

Surely they won't facelift this model? It's being replaced by the all new model in 2010 iirc.

I don't mean literally a facelift but they will filter through styling bits... Look at the original S-Line bumper on the last facelift, the spoiler either side of the grille looked like the one on this car. They changed it to be more aggressive and added fins/splitters....call them what you will.

Look at the spoiler on these and compare:

And the mini facelift with more aggressive lip added:

Yes, I see what you mean now.

It still doesn't explain the lack of the chrome on the foglights and sporty bumper on red S-line though. According to the PDF, the S-line should come with both and, as far as I can see, that red one doesn't.:uhm:

Its not looking to hot is it !!!

Think ill stick with what ive got, was considering a change to the new facelift but ill wait now i think, Just wanna upgrade my rearlights to the new LED style and get a Black Optics Grill fitted......

I agree, the S-LIne I saw had chrome on the fogs, unless it's an extra.Got to say though the S-Line I saw did look rather nice, really like the front end.

The S-line that you saw - was the front end much different to the red one above (other than the missing chrome surrounds on the fogs)?

*Edit* - the chrome is standard according to the PDF brochure.

Dave.

Well my new S-Line Cabrio has chrome on the fogs

No not really apart from the fogs and chrome grill and it was lower, I think this car is a sport or still has the chocks in the suspension.

Does anyone know what the dates (From & To) for the different versions?

I think the early cars were around 03-05 the facelift came at the introduction of the Sportback, and then 2008. Is there a Land Rover badge missing on that S LIne ?

Aren't there two S-Line packs? The exterior pack and the sports pack?

Over here what you do is buy the A3 sport and then add the sports pack or the exterior pack or both.

I ordered both, but from what I remember (and what I can tell by seeing cars with just the base S-Line pack) they don't come with all the same bells and whistles on the outside. I think the exterior pack just gives the bumpers, spoiler, tailpipes, badging and the misano red and avus silver paint options and the sports pack then adds the lowered supsension, another different grille, alloys, headcloth, seats, wheel, gear lever, sills and the other stuff. (maybe I've got those packs reversed).

Perhaps the one in the photos above only has the basic s-line pack and they've added 17in RS4 replicas to it. That would explain why it is so high on the suspension and doesn't have the chrome fog surrounds.

If anybody has the facelift brochure it should list the two s-line options. Can somebody check it out?

The way it works over here (at least with the age of car I have - same as yours Marc) is that you order the S-line and that consists of the exterior styling and sports pack you mention but they aren't options. They are standard fit.

I don't think that's an Sline.

Not even the 'sport' is that high - unless it's a 1.6 with the springs from a 2.0 fitted.
No Sline badges on grille, boot or bump strips.
No chrome around fogs.
No side skirts - thought the Sline was supposed to have these too?

Whenthe facelift 3 door was introduced in summer 05 they where separate, £1000 for the S-Line pack and £950 for the body pack, soon after they launched the ''special edition'' which incorporated both since then it appears to have been all part of one S-line pack. Currently £1800 option on the new model.

there are no longer s-line badges on the grille and bump strips. there were never s-line badges on the boot. the only s-line badges are on the side of the car where the side repeaters used to be.

s-line doesn't have side skirts either.

the car has black headlining, leather seats, s-line steering wheel and is misano red.

it more than likely is an s-line, just a bad one!

Is it possible that ordering the blackout pack removes the chrome from the fogs? My local dealer referred to the blackout pack before as a "dechroming pack". Could that be what this is?

The S line badges are now on the front wings, as seen in those pics.

It is a bit confusing, as the car doesn't have the chrome foglight surrounds, but it does have the new S line bumper designs at both the front and rear.

Aha.....I think you might very well have just hit the proverbial nail on the head.

I still think it looks pretty uninspiring for an S-line though.

I don't see S-Line badges on the wings, they are side repeaters..............

i don't like the new facelift, looks ugly.

Noticed that there isn't any change in the interior apart from some switches and knobs.

My bad. Still don't understand why as an Sline it's sharing suspension with the Q5/Q7.
