8V VCDS Mods

I made some changes in HVAC settings. I don't know my problem related to coding but It is the 3rd time happening this.

Problem: When you open AC for Cold Air (Lowest Temperature) the climate blows nearly hot. It works like just a fan in old cars. Blows Outside Temperature. This happened today and I was stuck in the traffic so I could not try it after 2000rpm but engine was hot enough.

Car is A3 Sedan 1.6 TDI. The engine was warmed up because of earlier usage and used about 10-15 minutes before opening AC.

Changes made with VCDS:
08-HVAC
Adaptation Maps
Application characteristic curves Cold Tuning, more air
Fresh air blower voltage offset much more
Temperature offset; summer operation much colder
Long Coding
Byte 4-Bit 0.3 Air Distribution: Cold/More Air

Did the red AC light stay on? If not I could be the compressor switching itself off due to air-con refrigerant leak?

What are to looking to make happen with your changes to the HVAC settings?

AC was ON, I close-on all the system many times but did not help.

I changed all settings to default from VCDS. I wrote down the things I made earlier, I made them all to the default.

BTW, the climate was on about 10 minutes but didn't blow cold air so I closed it. After some time I tried again it was blowing cold

My Notes:

  1. Select STG 09 (vehicle power)
2. STG access permissions -> Function 16

3. Enter the unlock code 31347

4. STG adjustment -> Function 10

5. Select a channel (5) Leuchte12NL LB45-light function B12

6. Adjust Value Abbiegelicht links (Default = Not Active)

  1. Select a channel (5) Leuchte13NL RB5 light function B13
2. Adjust Value Abbiegelicht rechts (Default = Not Active)

  1. Select a channel (2) static AFS light-Vorschrift
2 Adjust value to ECE R119

As ChiYoung said above, make sure you select "Abbiegelicht" and not "Abblendlitch". I selected "Abblendlitch" the first time I coded and my Fog Lights would turn on with my dipped beam.
Thanks mate, this did the trick. I must've been having a dull moment. The two look very similar aha

Document updated again. You can now pretend you have a G-Gas (WeTF that is!) or an RS3, which you could probably pull off as it don't look that much different from an S-Line :frown: Shame on you Audi!
  • Driver Information Screen Display Logo - Added RS3 and Audi G-Gas Logo Codes
  • MMI Logo Display - Added RS3 Code

Did anybody find out how you can lock your car with the engine running?

During winters it was something I used quite a lot with my BMW 1 F20, but the Audi does not close when I get out of the car and push the lock button...

that's funny! I had the same problem a week or 2 ago... No mods done to the AC of any kind...

When I pushed the "air circulation" button, it started blowing cold air.

Next day: no problem.

Perhaps because in the UK it is illegal for a driver to get out of a car and leave the engine running!

If this option is available it looks like it will be via coding as there is nothing related within adaptations other than Remote Start Feedback and DIS Messages. Problem is, at the moment, most of our label files are incomplete so need to wait on RossTech. Might be worth looking for someone with Vag Can Pro.

Stationary idling is an offence under section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 it seems, unless waiting to refuel...
Yup enforces rule 123 of the highway code, however, its okay to do so in a private car park or your own drive way etc as its only public roads...

The Driver and the Environment
123

You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road. Generally, if the vehicle is stationary and is likely to remain so for more than a couple of minutes, you should apply the parking brake and switch off the engine to reduce emissions and noise pollution. However it is permissible to leave the engine running if the vehicle is stationary in traffic or for diagnosing faults.
Law CUR regs 98 & 107

Yes

Start your car with the key as normal (assuming non advanced key)
Get out, shut door
Lock driver door with the spare key.

I have a metal key cut at the market which I keep in my wallet for this purpose in the winter.

As far as I know the key buttons do not work while a key is inserted in the car, and if the car is running i cant do anything with my other spare key.

Experience from when I ask for my mum to pick me up, I press the boot button to open it (I made a automatic boot mod) and my key doesnt do anything while she is inside with the car even off but with ignition.

Just wondering if anyone tried retrofitting/adding drive select using VCDS?

Aaaaaah, am I lucky I live in Pretty Little Belgium ;)

it's on my own drive-way... Safe and private :)

I do have the advanced key (key in pocket and with a start/stop button)...

Will try again in the parking lot of my employer later on, but I thought I already tried that with negative results...

Does anyone have the code to disable Start-Stop, a friend of mine wants it done, but I can't find the code.

Thanks

Jup, and keep in mind that the settings ipermanent, it's not like you're coding the switch to get "orange" when the car boots, you are telling the system to permanently disable the SS system due to a Voltage check which will never pass and thus the car refuses to stop...

When you say permanent do you mean the VCDS cannot be undone?

Tries this today to enable opening and closing of the cabriolet roof but didn't seem to work any ideas?

Can you post up what your settings are for Channels (1) through (17) - Convert. top oper
Will do DJAlix, I'm away till Friday so will do it when I get back. Is there an easy way to show all the settings on one page or is it a matter of going into each channel.
Cheers

Is there a means to lock in radio text?. Seems I always have to use the MMi to get info whenever I use the radio

Best way I have found to do this, and this will create a back up of your Car's settings which is always good to have, is to create an Adaptation Map of the controller:

  • Run up VCDS
  • Select Applications
  • Select Controller Channel Map
  • Controller Address = The number of the module you want to map out i.e. Central Electronics = 09
  • Tick Adaptations
  • Select CSV file
  • Leave all other settings "as is"
  • Select Go.

VCDS will now dump all the data for that module in to a .CSV file in the debug folder, which you can then mess around with. Make sure your engine is running when you do this as some modules can take a long time and you will run your battery down othrewise.

Do you mean to have the MMI Automatically display Radio text information (forget the actual name of the feature) like Song name etc when listening to a digital station? With my system, the Standard MMI with SD Nav, no :(

@DJAlix
Fantastic work - many thanks. I bought an official VCDS cable but believe it or not I've mislaid it! But when I find it again I'll be doing some of these mods - needle sweep and oil temp display for definite.

Depends... what is it that you are wanting to do?

It flashing only when i am over 50 kmh and i strongly press the brake pedal. I want to flashing more often. When i press the pedal lighter with less speed. It is possible? I see a BMW with it still flashing

The purpose of this feature is specifically to warm drivers behind of harsh breaking and an impending accident if they don't take action. What your trying to do is cause your car to unnecessary flash like an emergency! Please Don't

What you are trying to change is the "Emergency Braking" function, active depending on which market / country you are in. Both the speed and pedal settings cannot be changed. VCDS can only turn the function On or Off. I believe this can only be done within Long Coding however the needed Label file is not complete at this moment in time.

I see you have a Cabrio as do I but I don't have a VCDS cable yet. Have you tried enabling voice control? Nothing to do with your issue but I'm just interested to see if it can be done.

cheers

Not seen a car without voice control yet so have not been able to test myself but this might help.

I've heard there's no microphone fitted on the cabriolet, on a cnet on cars episode but this was a US spec and about a year ago... Is this really the case?
