Carista App

Paul, where did you get bluetooth device from and how much? Think I may look at getting one, although I have iphone so will have to wait on downlodaing the app for now.

Same as tj further up the thread
14.95 from Amazon
I think if u email todor who is the developer of the Carista app, he might allow to get the beta version for iOS depending on which vehicle u have

Pretty much did exactly the same as you, great minds and all that. :) I did ry on my mates MK4 Golf yesterday but it was a year too early so it didn't allow any customisations by it did collect fault codes. Still a very useful app hopefully they will extend the customise options at some point.

Yeah I tried on my father in laws freelander which is 2006 and no customisation's available but did read codes.
Just curious did u get any codes on ya Audi?
I did. No obd2 codes but see the others attached below

Thanks Paul, just checked that one on Amazon and it's not compatible with ios, so will see if I can find another one.

Yep your right you need a Wi-Fi one not Bluetooth. See if that seller does them

OK found a wi-fi ELM327 device, prices range from £11.60 to £24.95. Have also just emailed support@ carista to ask about beta testing for ios.

I did get a couple,

CAN network gateway:
03041 - Energy Management Active

Body/convenience system:
02615 - Locking fuel tank cap
02616 - Unlocking fuel tank cap

Not cleared them yet as the car is under warranty and I've emailed the place where I bought he car from to arrange to get them sorted.

Excellent app though as I said I'm hoping that as it goes on more options will come in.

Great app but it doesn't read all the codes. I have a insufficient egr flow fault when scanned with vcds but the app shows nothing.
It would be great to be able to do rear pads with this app.

Sorry mate did not read your post clearly.

So, purchased the wi-fi version of the ELM327 OBD2 reader and downloaded the Pro version of Carista ( as a beta test as I have ios).
Connected OBD reader into OBD port, turned wi-fi on iphone 5 and it connected immediately, very simple and no problems.
Enabled needle sweep, alarm beeps and lap timer & oil temp in display.

Will try and upload video of needle sweep.

I enabled oil temp and lap timer.
Lap timer works but can't find oil temp.
Any idea where is shows?

Tried my ELM and 'Torque pro' Android App in the 2012 B8 today and it doesn't seem to want to connect to the ECU.
That's a bit strange as it has always worked on any other car I have connected it too

Are you guy's plugging into B8's, if so what year and engine spec.
It would appear after viewing another Audi Forum that the ELM has issues with certain Audi models from B7 onwards.

My lap timer and oil temp are both shown in the display between speedo and Rev counter. When I flick through the mpg, speed etc it has lap timer and oil temp is above the "lap timer" words.
I can always take a pic if you want.

How did you get the app for your iphone as i cannot see this in itunes?

Stav8124, I was invited by Todor from Carista as they were looking for Beta testers.
It won't be availbale in itunes yet as they are still testing.
Might be worth sending them an email to see if they want any more beta testers for ios.
I sent and email to support@caristaapp.com and got a reply from Todor within an hour.

Thanks mate, can you also send me the link of the adapter you are using. will this work on a iphone 6 if you know?

Amazon product

This is the one I purchased. Connected straight away to the wi-fi on my iphone5.
Its says compatible with ios so can't see any reason why it wouldn't work with iphone6.

Maybe they added new option to beta version for ios and still testing it and that's why it's not on android. I don't think there is any difference between 08 and 09.

Would love a pic of this as my lap timer is there but no sign of the oil temp

No option for oil temp and laptimer on my 2010 using android .

Not sure what happened to my picture above, but here it is again:

thanks dan, I will take a pic of mine tonight as im 99% I don't get this. strange.
will have to email todor to see if he can advise the reason why.
would have been good to get the oil temp on the other screen aswell so don't have to drive with the lap timer on the screen to see it.
I usual have the speed in large display with the average mpg under it

Me too, I drive with speed in the large display and average mpg underneath. Would be nice to have oil temp above the speed.

Is anyone using this on a 2012 B8 (or is that a B8.5 ?)
If so what dongle ?

update: forgot to take photos but I checked mine last night and oil temp is deafo not there, when lap timer is one screen, the space above just shows either "track 1" of the radio station. gutted

I tried Carista today with my ELM327 (after Torque Pro failed to connect to the ECU last week, see above).

I have had the ELM dongle since around 2011 and connected it to Subaru 2007 STi, Subaru 2004 WRX, SEAT Leon FR, SEAT Ibiza Sport and Audi A4 TFSi B7 (2005) all with successful diagnostics and gauges running.

I'm pretty sure then that there are connection issues with the 2012 onwards Audi OBD protocol, unless of course my ELM327 is an early firmware version (not sure how to check this)

I don't know who to check the version but I think it has to be 1.5 as a minimum.
Try the latest version of the Bluetooth Elm327 devises and see if it works. Great app if ya can get it to work

Just ran up torque pro again and it connects to the phone and reports that it's ELM327 V1.5. It just doesn't connect to the OBD of the ECU.

I did notice with my VCDS last week that it also had no generic OBD diagnostics on VAG. On our SEATS we can see OBD in VCDS.
