slightly confused, yesterday the car threw up a bulb out warning for my front n/s indicator.

Upon stopping and checking the bulb was working fine, is this normal or should I be worried about a bigger problem

I had something similar on my C7 recently. Intermittently gave ao/s rear indicator bulb fail warning and then the bulb would work again normally for a while. Was on the point of going to the dealer but it was suggested it could be an issue when the bulb was getting hot. I changed the bulb and since then no errors, so could be a similar problem

Thanks for the reply, I guess the bulb being on the way out is a possibility.
Was pricing up LED replacements,
Although when looking at fitting them it appears i don't have the removable cover in the wheel arch to reach up and get them, so looks like I'll have to do it the hard way, or employ my child with small hands to do it for me.

Might be the one time when it pays to take Halfords up on their offer to install the bulb for you!

So turns out that the warning wasnt a false warning, I was thinking it was indicator bulb but infact its an intermittent sidelight problem. Bulb still works but has thrown a warning 3 times so will hopefully get about it and have a look on Saturday and hope it's just corrosion.

Out of curiosity what are the bulbs for below the sidelight bulb? Are they the DRL's? On a standard halogen unit I think they're main beam but ive got the bi xenon unit

I've had to change the bulb holder before on one of my Audi's as it was giving the same fault as you describe. easy way to access the indicator is to turn the wheel in and undo wheel arch liner at the front.

Thanks for the reply B5 will give that a go.
Although follow on post above yours it appears to be the 501 sidelight that's intermittent rather than the indicator.
And as mentioned above curiosity to what the bulb is that sits below the sidelight? Im guessing they're the DRL's?
I saw a thread elsewhere, someone had changed the coding to the facelift DRL headlights and these lights stay on at all times even with dipped beams

Could you or anyone else point me in the direction of good LED replacements for the both of them?

Sorry must have read the thread wrong, I've never found a good LED replacement, but if you do let us know. I've also has a bulb that looked to be working but gave an error I just replaced it and worked fine. You don't need to get in via the wheel arch to change the sidelight bulb but be prepared to cut your hands to **** and swear a lot as there is ****** all room on the passenger side, but the drivers side is not that bad.

Yea, watched a few videos on changing bulbs, im aware removing the air box is required for the drivers side and moving the power steering reservoir for the passenger side.

Hunting about LED sites, what bulb is the DRL bulb do you know?
