Guys, do you think short shifter (the one you can change settings like 20% reduction in gear shift or 40% aggressive)..

Does this actually drop your 1/4 mile time or damage the gear box? What are your thoughts?? useless?

yes Jason you can be the first so as Badger.. Thanks

you are becoming the new 8L "special" needs poster dude

good work

keep it up

lol

haha, special needs.

but for the record i have heard a short shift does indeed give you around 95 more hp* so yes it must reduce your 1/4 mile times

* although I've never tested it myself

The diesel geek one is rubbish IMO.. all the ones I have seen look like they are about to fall apart and the fixings are always loose... had a car in that was like this so tightened the fixings up... they came loose over again over a few dyno runs and have heard tale of them pinging off the selector arms while driving..

The Forge one appears a better choice as this only shortens throw vertically and not horizontally across the gate...

Having driven a couple of cars with this fitted though I am not personally a fan... I guess its more personal taste but the VAG cable change is vague enough and a quick shift seems to make them a little worse..

I had quick shift on my old Mk2 Escort and this was brilliant but cable change is not a patch on direct or rod changes...

thanks guys and Paul. Looks like no need for the short shifter , its quite useless, better off to increase boost spend money on dump pipes...

iv got the forge one fitted, got it cheap 2nd hand off ebay.. i quite like it.. the way iv got it set is about 50% reduced vertical throw and it feels perfect for me, id recommend it anyways :)

Personally I love my setup and say its probably the best setup other than prawns to run.

I have:
Updated shifter socket (under gear stick)
Solid shifter bracket bushes
Solid shifter cable ends
Forge copy front to back shifter (set at shortest throw)
Forge side to side shifter (set around 70% shorter)

Worth noting I changed my prefacelift ball socket cable ends to the newer pin style.

I'd say my setup is awesome, its so tight and precise and is a massive difference from the stock setup.

thanks everyone.....this is an awesome forum plenty to learn from....

I've got a Diesel Geek, stfu!

It's good, a little notchy but with some adjustment it works well.

Maybe not b&m good, but I like it.
