Thermostat question

Only had the car 5 days, it seems to take forever to warm upto 90 them seems to rise and fall between 70-90 depending on heating controls driving style etc, this just a dodgy thermostat you think

Sounds like it. Also worth changing the coolant temp sensor- easiest job in the world!

Bleed procedure for the system? Is it worth doing a full flush and filling with new coolant?

I need to do mine, never gets above 70degrees I have it just haven't got round to swapping it,

Also got a new plastic bit for 3quid, thought may as well

ive just done mine. its quite a fiddly job but can be done if you have small hands. try changing the cts first as thats really easy. then if that fails the thermostat. i flushed my system and filled with new coolant when i changed the thermostat as it just made more sense to do it then.

Would you guys suggest changing the sensor first then, ive got warranty so wondering whats worth doing / claiming for

Also is it better to get the audi sensor for £15 or another for £6 with 12month warranty

My temp gauge is all over the place.. When I first got the car, the gauge was lifeless, didn't move, so decided ill swap the temp sensor for a new one, which fixed it for, hmm 50 miles lol so think maybe a thermostat swap is my next move, only problem is I have no f@@king clue where's it's located, anyone want to shed some light on this?

just bought a new one for my s3, with intention of doing it myself.....its a right b***ard to get too, although only two 10mm bolts you cant do this job on your back. ive booked mine in to save the hassle, a mechanic with the right tools/surroundings will do it in 1/2 hour so worth saving me the hassle!
