My Brodit holder

I always pair my phone's BT to play music of my spotify playlist. I chuck my phone into one of the cup holders to keep it stable. If I left my phone in my coat pocket or trouser pocket the interference would be quite bad.

I wanted a smarter way of docking my phone and decided a phone holder was needed. There are plenty to choose from on the market both with used suction on plastic or window. I wanted an OEM mount but also somewhere I can put my phone easily if I had to navigate something while driving.

I've previously used Brodit holders and found the quality very good. They did two variations on the 8V.

This is the one I went for, and just to note it requires two parts so they mostly universal for what you need to mount as your next device. It doesn't require any dash drilling just holds very firmly into place between the plastics.

Just a note, if you use spoify and want album cover to show (if your phone is not fully compatible or dont have the right accessories) you can use an Android App called Keepscreen which keeps the screen on as long as you like. I know this has an effect on battery but looks cool as hell.

Hi, you can buy this from most retailers and even on ebay. They only vary in price between £2-3. I got mine from: Drive Safe & Legal for Brodit ProClip Holders

brodit holders are excellent been using them for >5 years, even used the adjustable one for the Samsung s4 where you can keep the case on and the holder swivels 360 degrees and forwards and backwards quite a bit too

I think i'd have to agree. Not my personal taste but each to there own i guess.

Its not a particular cheap phone holder as the mounts are very solid. Also from the drivers viewing angle I deliberately moved it so it doesn't interfere with any vision on the integrated screen. I can safety use my phone while driving and do often need extra control of my phone which my car cannot do such as:

• Quickly locate contacts from my phone book (The car voice recognition isn't the the best on the market)
• Use google voice to compose and send text messages
• Use google maps to locate places (I drive to client locations)

My A3 was a ex-demo so I didn't have the luxury to build my full desire spec car.

WHAT!!!???

Brodit are the market leaders.

Brodit are not cheap, my one cost £80 and they are far better than anything else on the market - its certainly isn't cheap or cheap looking !!!!

Honestly some people really are clueless, probably a clueless apple/iphone fan.

I can see your point which is why I got the mmi so I don't any holder, but brodit holders are a world away from the cheap tat you get in Halfords

That's because the MMI is way way overpriced for what it is. sales love clueless people like you - the mmi should cost no more than £500 for the tech involved

Sorry but I think it looks out of place and makes the dash cluttered.
Only handy thing about having the phone there is if u use google maps often and saves holding it.
Haven't really seen the point of spotify in the car,not when sd cards can be filled to the brim and controlled on the steering wheel.

If everyone liked the same things the world would be a very boring place, even my 13 year old nephew understands that. The whole point in forums is to further and share ones knowledge and experience. I had a windscreen mounted cradle in my old car as it didn't have sat nav, so used it for that, and even installed an extra switch into a blanking plate by my right knee with a charging cable coming out of the A pillar straight into the cradle, and modified the cradle so I could just drop my phone straight in and connect it up.

With the A3 though I spent a while thinking about my options for a phone holder, but in the end I just don't really need it. Connect gives you the google functionality in terms of searching for locations for the nav, and dictation of text messages (which is extremely impressive), as well as reading them out - all through the MMI. The bluetooth functionality is pretty spot on as well, not had any troubles with it, and it's all far more integrated into the car as well, and will add resale value too (not as much as it costs in the first place of course, but still has to be taken into account).

I suppose it looks good enough if you were going to mount the phone, but I still prefer putting them by the A pillar personally. Enough in your field of view so you don't have to look away from the road while you are viewing it / using it for sat nav, while not really affecting your view forwards by much (if at all).

I don't think it's illegal to use a phone if it's in a holder actually.
