Just a quick question guys, got my rear bumper painted a few days ago.
Was just wondering how long to leave it before washing, adding wax etc.
Took them long enough to paint the ****** thing and don't want to do any damage.

Cheers :)

Leave it a couple of weeks Robbie for it to cure properly and then light wash and then wax it.

Cheers for that Mark :)
For some reason I had 3 months in the back of my head for waxing lol.

As long as its lightly waxed I see no problem. Its not as though your cutting the paint so you'll be fine. When the S3 had its front end resprayed I left it 2 weeks with no probs encountered.

why do people think you have to leave paint for that long .. you think audi leave there cars that long before paint ??? once the paint has cured and gone hard you flat it and polish it dont you ?? so its all ready been polished so why you have to leave it for so long ????

I had a 206 cc dropped off couple of weeks back that had been painted down both sides the day before, had to wash it down and wax it . Didnt seem to to do any harm. Not ideal though.

The time it takes from spraying the car to collecting it at the showroom would be weeks :)
Feeling a how it's made paint special coming on lol :)

polishing isn't the problem - it's wax. Wax stops the paint from breathing which is bad for new paint which is still releasing fumes and is hardening over time. Bodyshops use paintshop safe polish with no sealing properties so that the paint can still breath away

I waxed my last car after a respray after 4 weeks and all was well.

glad i found this thread i just had mine painted and was wondering when i can clean it as its scruffy already due to our lovely british weather.
