low oil pressure (red warning light on) loud rattling noise

Hi All

The low oil pressure warning light came on my car today,but it only had a major service last week 52300 fsh !i drove a about 1/2 mile ,will i have knackered the engine doing this?until i could pull in and call RAC out who towed me home...Worried sick now about what this is as apparently according to him it could be oil pump gone or something to do with cam chain..i have already had the cam belt belt and water pump changed,dv vale ,boost pressure control valve ..So now ****** off to say the least!!Read somethimg some ware about oil pick up blocked..Will have to wait now till monday to get to garage,so allsorts running through my head... What could the cost be in the worst case,££££
any advice much appreciated

Awwwww ****. I know the feeling mate. I had the same, it was pickup pipe blockage. Red oil warning etc. Luckily, having owned an audi before I knew not to **** about and get stationary that second and no damage done.

Often tho, (and im very uneducated about this stuff so somebody will probably correct me) the oil starvation to the head will cause all sorts of mess and can write off your engine. Grinding noise doesnt sound good tbh fella.

Mine blocked at 52k. The car will drive with the warning, but that's the last thing you want to do.

Finger's crossed it's just a blockage and not too expensive or too much damage done mate.

If you have it on longlife servicing i would recommend changing the oil every 8-10k as the 20k intervals are usually the culprit, the oil becomes sludgy and blocks the pipe.

I go as far as changing oil every 5-6k on petrol engines especially the Audi.

just had this happen to me . Was on A road so had to slowly coast for about 1/2 mile. Can you tell me the outcome ??

Get you oil pick up pipe changed tthe gauze will be blocked,hat was the problem with mine!Try and get towed to garage an get done asap...Hope all goes well pal!
