I'm trying to take off the suspension and as always with this car nothing is ever simple. I have removed everything except the sway bar bolt. I can't seem to remove it. The minute I unloosened it ,It just spins around when you turn it and doesn't seem to tighten or unloosen anymore. I know you hold it standy with torx but it's too tight the torx ends up slipping. Anyone who has removed the suspension any tips?

Its not a torx its a spline, so you've probably ******** that now.

Well mine did, problem is I had to cut one of before as the fixing was ********, you are putting spline etc in the end to hold the thread steady & then undoing the nut with spanner, iirc.

Yeah that's right, but with mine a CR-V5 is too small and CR-V6 is too big. Is there possibly a middle spline I'm missing? 40 torx seems to fit nicely but I can't get a strong enough grip to counteract the spanner. I'm happy that I've managed to do the rears though.

Vice grips on the ball joint and try not to nip the rubber boot, or else a hacksaw!
(you may have to unscrew one end to get access to the other

Do you think vice grips will get a strong grip?

They're crap just cut them off and get new ones for afterwards. They've even tight as hell brand new so no surprises they aren't overly forthcoming to remove after a while on the car. The spline on the ball just rounds off if they're really tight they aren't a good enough fixing.

That said a good scrub up with a wire brush and a decent penetrating fluid does help a lot.

here's mine I took off.

heres the size too.

Thanks for so much for responses; much appreciated. I may have bitten off more than I can chew. It would be a shame now to take it to garage after having bought spring compressor, strut spreader and few other things.

Question 1: I’ve never cut of a bolt before, what’s the best tool. A saw might take some serious elbow grease.
Question 2: Where would I cut from, there’s minimum space behind the seized bolt.
Question 3: mjr901 are these the bolts?

Get ones that have a full thread up to the hex top to be sure, as they have a smooth sleeve on the ones you have shown.

+2 washers per bolt.
