I've noticed a pair of wires that go to some kind of sensor on the fuel line. The sensor looks a bit like a coolant temp sensor, but it's not as it's on the fuel line and only has 2 wires.....Any ideas? It looks like someone has tried to pull it off and has ripped the wires out instead and then stuck them back in with duck tape!!!! It's located on the top of the engine, just next to the fuel filter. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Its the fuel temp sensor and it's held in the fuel pipe with a little plastic horse shoe shaped clip

Sounds like the fuel temp sensor there should be a part number on the plug which if you go to your local dealer should be able to get you a replacement and you'll need a repair wire too which comes with a connector each end so just snip it in half and attach one end to each damaged wire to fix.

Thanks for the help. That's exactly what I needed to know! Could this temp sensor cause the mpg to be poor???

Ok, I'll get on and sort that as only getting 44 mpg and normally would be at 50 mpg....I've changed the coolant temp sensor and thermostat recently and that got the temp guage working again, but the mpg is still poor. Could it be anything else? Brakes and tyres are fine, recently serviced, etc.
