hi all been searching for the last couple of hours but couldnt find a definite answer.my car is a 1.8 se avant 1997 a4 b5. my donor car is a v reg 1.9 tdi facelift a4 b5 with a 1.8t gearbox fitted. can i put the 1.9 tdi into my 1.8 just swapping the engine, loom, ecu's,fuel lines and tank, also could i keep my tank in and swap the pump and lines.
any response is appreciated.

why cant you keep the FL car?

If you have the whole car, no reason why you can't swap bits in till you have it all working

i want to keep my car as its pelican blue and there isnt anything wrong with the 1.8,its jst for fuel economy and i cant afford to buy another car.the donor im gettin for free and its a hideous light green.

i was thinking that as its all the same car so it shouldnt be too problemattic.

thanks for your reply.

you will have to change everything.

Fuel system, wiring loom etc etc.

I'd rather spend the time and effort by selling the 1.8 complete and using the money to plastidip or vinyl wrap the facelift car.

I agree, strongly. Its gunna take ages, lots of hard work & effort, for very little really. I'd tidy up the blue one, sell it for as strong money as you can get, and spend the cash on doing up the 1.9 TDi ???

Other than that, I wouldn't bother, but then again, im not capable of doing the work myself soooooo...

michaelg1001, i was thinking that too but im going to use it temporarily while i source a tdi box locally. also guys im hoping to do a write up on how i do it as i could not find any info on it at all, with pictures too when i find my charger.
