Ok lads, got Badger 5 TIP and Jetex Filter for my S3 off Bill during the week. I got the TIP and Jetex filter fitted today and all works fine.

I also went with the option of pushing the filter nearer the inner wing and ordered the silicon and alloy couplers required to do this.

However when we tried to fit the silicon and alloy couplers to push out the filter to the wing I found there wasn't actually enough room for the filter there as there is a bracket presumably for the stock Airbox which is in the way.

Please see below a few pics to try and explain:

Basically the filter fouls the bracket in the second pic when I try to fit the couplers provided to push the filter close to the wing.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Should I try to modify the couplers provided or bracket on the wing or does it give give enough gains to be even worth bothering with?

On the plus side the car does feel livelier to drive and MAF readings have increased from 175g/s to 180g/s on standard map with no other mods so in theory an estimated 6 bhp increase before any mapping.

That bracket is where the stock airbox locates, you are correct.

You've got three options as far as I can see; remove that bracket by way of force. trim down the coupling so that the filter goes as far as it can without fouling the bracket or lastly just leave the filter where it is housed nicely in the shield.

Great results with the pre-mapping logs, I bet you can't wait to get it mapped up.

Ya going to trim the coupling over the weekend and see how we go, yes can't wait to get it mapped once funds allow!!
