My friend did a facelift conversion to his 54 plate a3 tdi....to the 2010 front end......only thing he's having problems with is the aftermarket h.i.d kit does come on but dim.........any ideas?
What kalvin bulbs are they? The higher the kalvin the bluer/purple and that means less light compared to lower kalvin bulbs I.e. 6000k (as best to daylight)
as above get a new wiper motor ready
dont need one ready, solved that issue of wipermotor blowing!
Really, WOW. Only person ever to get it fixed, you are going to be a rich fellow.
Dare to say how?
Asks us to help.. but did not freely share details on his fix... Another moucher on our beloved site....

Successfully use the newer style headlights you will need to code the headlights into the central electric module and use at least oem ballasts so that the computer can pick it up. You can then use whatever bulbs you like. I personally have 8000k bulbs in mine with no issues so 6000k isn't a problem at all
il p.m you all the details, this week sometime, its quite a big write up.
why not post on here so all members can see how to do it ?
ok,thanks for that help,so its the ballasts that he needs, oem ,so computer picks it up..thanks......oh,is it worth trying to code in aftermarket ones or wont that work? any ideas on the code or they all difernt?
you dont code the ballasts! you code the car to tell it that it has xenons and then it goes to detect the ballast. aftermarket ballasts dont talk to the CE modules in our cars which is why they wont work and you will get errors if you code the car to xenon type.
Just to pick ur brain. So we all know about the wiper problems, but say if u coded the car to think it had xenons and then ran an aftermarket hid kit, would tht not overcome the issue?
I was having this conversation the other day as I'm going oem xenons
still waiting on the write up ?
Good move!
