Hi Guys,

I'm away to buy a kind of tatty (body wise) S3 from a mate and for some reason I feel like I want to fit a set of Cibie super oscars to the front, kind of UR quattro style.

Have you ever seen an S3 with bumper mounted front spots? I was thinking some hanging brackets could be riveted to the slam panel and hang down to mount them.

The long winter nights up north mean that better lights are a major upgrade for some committed winter driving.

Will you laugh me off the forum?? :uhm:

Being a rally fan I actually quite like this idea!

I think they would look pretty good grafted into the grill area where the current fogs are.

Or just go the whole hog and get a 4 lamp bonnet pod!

Pics if you do it please!

Probably :)

In all seriousness though each to their own... if you post pics just be prepared for the good and the bad comments....

I used to run 4 x Cibie super oscars on my Mk2 Escort... top two were pencil beams, bottom two were fog beams... 100w bulbs in each and a halogen conversion on the headlights running 100/80's... 600w on full beam... it was like turning daylight on :D

I miss my Mk2 :(

<tuffty/>

Yeah I reckon I can take the abuse :)

I'll wait and see how I get on with the standard xenons, but I'm very tempted.

How are the standard lights?

A high quality photo shop mock up. Not my car....

S3 Spots

haha I don't know really, need to see where they look best in reality.

My photo shop may also be a bit out of scale.

I'll post some pictures when I mock it up in the garage.

Done some driving in Sweden years back in the winter and all the cool cars (mostly Volvos ;) ), but I saw a few Audis including A3s, had the a feck off great big rally style pair of lights on the front.

Awesome for spotting and cooking moose/reindeer at 2 miles.

My photoshop attempt at quad cibies:

Also for the sake of rally heritage you should get Bosch spots, not Cibies!!

Cibie super oscars...... now that takes me back to my youth and my Mini days.... they were always getting robbed though by those chavy escort boys :)

just get brighter xenons brighter fog lights maybe ?

Memories, Used to run 2 Oscars, wide angle, and 2 Super Oscars, pencil on toyota landcruiser years ago in the Top End of OZ where there are no street lights - sometimes no streets. Great lights. Nothing beats good vision at night and you will not have the issue of a startled Kangaroo just sitting in the lights not moving....

Haha, its like spot lights anonymous in here.
I've got an old cheap set of 9" spots I had on my Nissan Cherry Turbo :angrymod:.... I'll mock these up and see how they look.

Don't want to look too daft!

Whoo, a cherry turbo! Not seen one of them in a looong time! Any pics?

Yeah it had a louvred bonnet!

Loved the white 16" OZs too.

Shame some nugget smashed it up the rear and wrote it off!

Loved that car :(

I like that!

Can you get bull bars for the A3? It would be much easier to mount driving lamps to bull bars.
