Hi All,

Just wanted to say another b5 fitted to a s3! well pleased! really easy to fit, really quick dispatch from B5. fitted this morning.

Car 210 bhp AMK with Custom R-Tech remap 127k miles, Before TIP 199 gs = about 248 BHP.

After fitting the B5 Tip 212 gs = about 265 bhp on a really warm day well happy increase of 17bhp not bad me thinks.

It was Niki at R-Tech who recomended the B5!! he also said that my Actuator is weak at the top end of the Rev range so hopefully little more BHP to come once that is replaced.

Drives really good now pulls really strong, not as loud as i thought it was going to be (i am pleased about that)

Cheers

Pleased to hear this is working well for you!

I've been tempted by one as well, but to be honest my Brothers experience has put me off a bit.

He has the badger 5 induction kit which includes the TIP and a cone filter etc. He also upgraded to a Forge 008 at the same time, and it all fitted perfectly.

The only problem is now that he has some pretty mad full throttle surging issues. The car is a Leon Cupra R , with a Jabbasport Stage 1 map.

I wonder if the TIP has taken his car 'over the edge' and there is now too much boost? I hooked it up to VCDS and it has logged a G61 Knock Sensor fault.

I'm sure it can be sorted, it feels great on part throttle and sounds good too, but I guess it's either a tweak of the map, or the fitting of a manual boost control valve or something that is required to fix it.

I'm still tempted though! :)

Thanks Tooks, I went for the full induction kit too. Get it done mate you'll love it!

You need get your Brothers car checked, sounds like the sensor may be faulty. Don't let that put you off getting one, if yours is running 100% do it!

Hope you get you brothers sorted soon.

Yeah your brother leons maf could well be faulty as the more air flowing in the 80mm TIP may just be too much for it and is scrwing it up. best way to check this is with VCDS or just unplug the MAF and see if it runs better if so new MAF and all should be good (also check for boost leaks too)

If you do get a new MAf dont forget you can get a discount for returning your old faulty one in exchange wherever you buy it from

Cheers guys, we're just working through a few things at the moment.

I've given him a spare N75 valve to try, and I've got a MAF he can have as well, I replaced mine last year as part of a diagnostic attempt, but it was fine, so the other one should be good too.

His car was running spot on before he changed the TIP, so it could be an unlucky coincedence or more likely just the extra airflow. I think he opted for the most aggressive settings on his jabba remap from memory!

just be warned the MAF part numbers are specific to some engine codes as my bam maf did not let toms apy car run right when we tried it on his car

His is a BAM engine, and mine is an AMK, and the part numbers are the same, assuming of course both MAF sensors are the correct ones, as both cars have had previous owners!

I'll check it out for him.

which version of the b5 tip have you guys got fitted and which seems to be the best???? i will be ordering one shortly and cannot decide wether to go v2 or v3?

the TIP does'nt change boost requests....
map is the issue....

spikey boost delivery.... not ideal way to map k04......... but often how folks do it

hope he's got rods...

you are fitting a high flow 80mm tip because you want more airflow.............. dont be surprised when it actually does achieve more airflow.. BUT boost request in a map remains unchanged... the ability to breath more has...

consider an mbc in paralle to n75 to clip the spike, as a cheaper alternative to another remap...... works well and is diy

Are rods exspensive to have fitted ?
Think I need this tip in my life

I think most say rods supplied and fitted will be around 1k. Labour is as much if not more than rods.

I've started to get turbo flutter lately since having my B5 fitted, traced to faulty N75. Changed it already, but not road tested it yet, car does seem to be boosting smoother. The flutter only happens on my car in 4th/5th/6th gears at higher rpm, say 4k+.

Thanks Bill. Both my Brother and I are impressed with the TIP and kit, fitting was easy, and he loves the noise.

Bit, I've told him we need to sort the surging pronto.

I think we're going to try the MBC first.

Thanks again!

highest loads in these gears = more torque request = more boost

what gauge pressure is it?

Jojo, I'd be interested to hear if this solves your problem as I experience the same thing in the higher gears and my n75 is only a year old. If it doesn't solve your problem then I'll go back to my original plan of winding back the load config in uni-settings!

I went for the full induction kit, called a V2.2 i think. Awesome bit of kit, with the fresher air this morning WOW! pulls really well! big smile on the way to work (Smiling on the way to work that's all sorts of wrong..... ha ha)

what boost pressure...? gauge as in boost gauge.

Sorry Bill, I'm having an off day! According to my boost gauge, it was fluctuating between 1-1.5bar. To be honest, I didn't get to watch it constantly, due to the speeds I was doing joining onto traffic, but the needle was moving up and down wildly from my recollection, I might be way off?

I only experienced this once, after I had my car rolling road'd at R-Tech, and it was a warm day. On the way home, it started to rain heavy midway, and the boost flutter stopped! Not been able to replicate the problem since, but changed the N75 anyways.
My car need to have a 4 wheel alignment done first before I can test it out, since I just changed all the suspension to pass the MOT, so might be a while.

Future on here has an issue he has a thread on it too. His car boosts well until higher RPM`s and then the boost drops from 1.5 to 1 bar and you can hear the turbo spooling again before the car is off.

We tried my N75 on his car and it was different as this time wouldnt boost past 1 bar but held that boost. we tried his on my car and my car held 1.5 bar rather than its normal 1.3bar. in VCDS you could see that my car was still requestion 1.3 but getting 1.5.

On closer inspection Futures N75 is the C version and mine is the F version could this make this much difference?

I frikkin love my B5! Gives my car the torque it needs especially as the turbo is old and needs to breathe more.. Actuator is weak but not bothering with that :)
