Lowering Springs Question.

Hi All.

OK, thinking I need to lower my car, and wondering if just using lowered springs on standard dampers will be OK or if coilovers are really the way to go? Personally I think coilovers maybe a step to far when all I want is a slight drop to make the car sit better.

I've got a 06 Sportback S-Line and have seen many springs advertised showing the suggested drop, but is this based on the cars ride height in standard form? For example, as far as I'm aware the SE is the entry model with the heighest ride height, the sport is a little lower, and then the s-line is a little lower again from the factory.

So if a springs suggestes a drop of 40mm, is this from the standard ride height of say the base model (SE), or would this be 40mm drop based on my s-line?

Been looking at Spax, they list the s-line version separately with a 25mm drop:

Any ideas/help/suggestions.

From what im aware mate, the ride hight is based from the entry level models such as the SE. Ive seen adverts for springs suggesting... 'if you have the sport model the drop wont be as much' Hope this helps, other send a message to the manufacturer and they will point you in the right direction, ive always rated Eibach though

Eibach's on mine too. Think the stance is nice and the ride isn't too bad at all.

Been discussed plenty of times before, height drop is from standard height. S-line is 20-25mm lower than standard/se models.

Eibach 40-50mm springs are the way to go. Other springs tend to leave A3s sittin with the front too high. 40-50 eibachs are perfect for subtle drop

bloblob2, NobberUK, moag any of you guys running spacers on your wheels? Any rubbing?
Would love to see some pics of your cars too, Eibach Sportlines sound like the way to go.

I've spacers on my fronts and it does rub if i hammer it over speed bumps etc. Its not really a big issue though as its just the tyre rubbing on the arch liner, its not doing any damage but the sound isn't great!
Thats mine..
