Hi all

I am having a strange issue with my A4 where under heavy load such as full throttle in 3d or 4th gear from around 2000 rpm she will start to cut out/splutter at around 3000 rpm and feels like a misfire. It is strange because if I run her on her normal stock map I cannot replicate the misfire but as soon as I run even a basic Stage 1 REVO map she misfires. Obvious causes are plugs, coil packs, leads or injectors but what gets me is she runs fine on her stock map...

Any thoughts? I have yet to run logs on her so that will be my first port of call...

Cheers
Nic

Definitely sounds like coil-packs - my Ibiza 1.8T did the same.
I got a set of four Beru (OEM quality) from eurocarparts - cost £115 for the four if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the feedback, I know these and other 1.8T engines suffer from coilpack favour but I was led to believe that the coilpacks were replaced by my local Audi before I bought the car. Will be doing some logging and testing this weekend with a friend who has the same car...

There's a recall for coilpacks so call you local Audi dealer to see if it applies to your car. Worth checking the MAF as well as I experienced problems with a GSF MAF on a Revo'd mkiv Golf once. Stuck a genuine VAG MAF on & all was well.

The car is going to my local Audi dealership on Wednesday and I'll get them to check if the coilpack recall was done. I did ask at the last service but I don't trust dealerships to be completely honest. Switched back to the stock map this last weekend using my REVO SPS and loading her with full throttle from 2000rpm in 4th there is no misfire at all. Seems like the added boost/fuelling is exposing a weak link...
