hey guys thinking about purchasing one of these:
AUDI A3 96-03 20v 1.8T TURBO EXHAUST DOWN PIPE DECAT | eBay
Just wondering, does the car need to be mapped to run this properly?
im new to a petrol turbo so i need to ask these things lol

does it fit straight on to a standard cat back? i will get an s/s cat back at some point, but if i need an s/s cat back now i will hold off.
is it to hard to fit? doesnt really look it but i'll ask anyway.
Im just after a bit of noise and hopefully a small gain in performance too.

Also, im unsure if these 2 can actually be linked together, but if i fitted this, and put a cone filter on will the decat power increase, help lose the flat spots the cone filter does on standard map?

Looks like the de-cat reduces down to the same size as standard system

as above, the DP reduces down to the std exhaust size, i also needed a exhaust clamp to join the two

it makes the turbo spool up much faster and seemed to make a noticeable difference on mine,
you may throw up a lamda fault if you have 2 sensors, one pre and post cat

to get the most performance from it get it mapped, well worth the money imo

Do u have this one then was thinkin of gettin this myself.

Same one I have got ready to go on. I havent heard anything bad about these also spoke to rtech about it and they seemed to agree tht it's worth it.

Yeah that's an easy to put on kit, just need wiggle it in proper. I got the exact one and as mentioned above it reduces down to the standard exhaust size meaning you can get whatever system after the decat, it makes the turbo spool quicker, gives the car a slightly deeper tone! Well worth it.

Does it weld into original pipe or does it go over like a sleeve?

Straight fit with mine and connected GReat to my current Scorpian exhaust system made the car tons better !!

Its the same width mate and ends where the midsection starts. So you can either weld or get a clamp that goes over and tighten it well tight < like I did. :) sounds good and get it already!!!ol

what year is your car? or more importantly, engine code if you know it?

Trouble free fitment on an AGU, but on an AUM you'll get an engine management light after a few days.
