can anybody help with what tyres and which offset will be better?

looking at getting some alloys, 18"x9.5

can get them in ET25 or ET35 offset

any suggestions on which offset to chose and what tyres to get?

if anybody has the same sized wheels on there a3's post some pics up! :D

wanting to drop the car as low as possible! :D

help appreciated,
cheers
Jord

(first post by the way)

18 x 9.5 is too wide for the a3 man. You might be able to get them on rear with an offset around 45ish but they will poke like hell on the front!

ah right, shame! they are the rotiform NUE's, only the 9.5 are concave and i think they are too plain without the concave!

guess i'll have to go for Bentley's instead!

Yer, thats why theres no A3s with them on!

Theres a nice set of bentley splits on edition at the minute, check it

Not sure about wheels and offset but as for tyres I'd personally buy vredestein ultrac sessanta had these on my GTI and made a big difference.

18" / 8.5" et45... That's about as concave as they get for these cars if you don't want to do some extreme stretching of the tires.

Neuspeed makes a simmilar wheel but it's light weight too.

what about the 18"x8.5 NUE's? with ET45 or 35?
how do you work out if it will fit anyway? i've always wondered but never bothered asking, normally just took the dive n bought the wheels in the past n hoped for the best haha

I usually just compare it to the wheels I've had on mine and try to figure out how the wheels will sit. Also there has been countless questions regarding wheel offsets tyres etc on here, you tend to know what works and what doesn't after a while!

Basically take into account wheel width and offset to see how the wheel will fit the arches. General rule is the lower the offset the further the wheel sticks out. i.e. a ET35 wheel will stick out 10mm further than a ET45 wheel, then there's the difference in wheel widths and tyre selection that you need to consider.

18 x 8.5 ET45 will be fine front and rear. you might be able to do ET35 on the rear, but you'd be safer buying ET45s and then trying 10mm spacers to get the same effect.

They are nice wheels, I'd love to see them on an a3!

Just realised rotiform do a 19x8.5 ET45 NUE. That would be even better! 19>18 all day long

thanks for the help moag! actually understand what ET is now-ish!
i'd go for the 19's but i love the concave NUE's! and they only do a 18" version :/
maybe if i put the concave 9.5's on the rear with ET35 and then the 8.5's ET45 on the front :p

ahh we'll see ay! i've only ever seen one set on an a3 and it looks the dogs!
