Hi guys,

Just wanted to share this with you all...

I finally got my sportback rear LED lights! :yahoo:

Made up my own loom to connect the lights up and they are working perfectly! I will take some pics tomorrow if i get the chance... I washed the car after installing the lights and then 20 minutes later it rained :(

the best part... i bought them brand new from an eBay seller in Germany for £185 delivered!
I had them priced at £180 delivered but by the time i got around to securing the deal and paying for it (a week) the currency conversion rate played against me by the extra £5 but still a great price!

So if anyone is looking for a new set of LED rear tail lights for their sportback it from this guy... eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Cheers Ash, That's what I was looking for. Where to get the loom and do I need some expert for coding... Will it be straight replacement mod????

These where needed for your car badly ...glad you finally got them ...at the price u wanted.

Thanks guys,
Omg the rear looks a million times better now! Before there wasn't anything to look at when I was behind the car, now I just get out and walk round to see the lights :)

I also did the dual led boot light and I have to say its bright in there!

Sportbacks need coding to work, only 3 bits of coding really so not hard at all. You can get you loom from eBay I you want but I just made mine which cost me something like £15-£20 once I had bought the new connectors and extra repair pins. If you want I can make up a loom for you or just let me know and il do the whole install for you.

Good job mate and nice find. Got my Bro'-in-law to order some as he's been on the look-out for these.

Would you consider doing other installs? If so how much? Maybe PM me a quote.

I have been considering doing this mod for a while now, but don't want to pay over the odds. These lights are a very attractive offer!

Good price, the last two sets I've bought have been around £225 delivery from Germany but they did come with plug and play looms.

Nice one, good price too. I thought mine was good at £230, blown that price away haven't you @ £185!

RESULT!

Worth checking out the 09+ Sportbacks being broken on ebay too...

Thought I'd give this thread a little bump as I've just purchased some LED rears for my sportback.

However unlike ASH I've ordered from an alternative (& slightly cheaper) seller, & also decided to order the wiring adapters rather than make my own - Simple reason being that to buy the parts to make my own adapters/convert the wiring would cost £20 + an hour of my time (& probably a lot of cursing!) I picked up the adapters for only £25.

The links below will translate the pages to English, just give them a moment to work. Ignore the part about not shipping to the UK, he does & charges only 16.95 euros for both items. Also he speaks better English than I do German in case you need to ask any questions!

For the LED rear lights, adapters & delivery it came to £210 in total, which in my mind is a bargain - Even if the Paypal rate was better yesterday!

Enjoy! :arco:

Hi max69vk
This is where I bought mine from a coule of weeks ago. Arrived in three days. excellent services and items well packed for shipping too.

Now fitted and well pleased with them.

Call me stupid. What part is LED? Are like the indicators, brake , fog and reverse lights LED?

Pretty good pic here showing the LED part lit up....

A £210 box of lovelyness from Germany, only took 3 days to deliver (after I cocked up the payment) & the adapters have turned out to be Kufatec rather than some other generic brand. Looking forward to getting them fitted along with a few other external tweaks...

Yep...same kit as mine max69vk....they'll look great when they are done!

Can I ask a question of you though? When you have them connected up and coded, can you check to see if your High Level Brake Light is at the same intensity when lit, as before you fit them?
After fitting my kit, my 3rd brake light is now much dimmer.....no one else has seen this problem or has an issue. Might be just my cabling but would you mind posting a reply once you've done them?
Cheers

Does everyone who has these fitted still recommend them as notice they are still available?

Hell yeah one of the best mods, also don't forget you can code the fog light to act as a brake light too.

Have you got these exact ones? Didn't know that about the fog lights! Lol

I got mine of a guy on ebay who uses this forum.Yeah you can also have the rear lights on inside the leds but i tried it but much prefer just the leds as they are.

May have to treat myself! Lol yea I'd probs leave them as they should be to be fair!

Ok, so I have the parts including the adapters, the vagcom at the ready but no idea what Im actually coding! Could someone explain to me what Im coding? I dont want to start the job if i cant finish it! Thanks in advance.

Forum search is broken.
I found this on a cached copy on google

You need a VCDS cable. The coding is this:

central electronics

coding

help with long coding

Btye 9 to Dec = 0 - as the final brake light
Byte 10 to Dec = 0 - Fog lamps as a taillight
Byte 12 to Dec = 36 - dimming rear standlight
Byte 19 Bit 2 Cold Diagnosis rear active - this must be activated

where these standard on later cars or an option? found a 59 plate but its a base model deisel dont want to travel to find they are what i have already

Ask them for the model number on the lights.
A quick Google can verify If they are the new ones.

From '58 plate on they're standard factory fit ...although there are a few pre-facelifts on later plates, but they're rarer than rocking horse poo.
