I find it so funny when I hear mum's calling their son's by their nickname.
My mate is called Keith but everyone, including his mum, calls him Beefie.
Although, his mum also calls him Max sometimes.

My wifes brother is david, but we all call him rodney, always have and always will. I'm sure you can figure out why? Well, in case you can't, it's an Only fools and Horses joke. His girlfriend and their family all call him Smee, so all in he has three names. His mum and dad still call him David though. Even my little girl calls him uncle Rodney

We called a mate at school Doc because he had a passing resemblance to Doc Cox from That's Life (those under 30 won't have a clue what I'm on about), and there was already an Andrew and an Andy in our form. That stuck and his parents used to call him that as well.
