haha bets thats because your hoofing it everywhere mate
ah yea forgot your clutch was fubar! thing is as well once the new one is in, youve got to nurse it for 500 odd miles while it beds in, be worth using the SPS to turn everything down to 0 to stop the temptation!
exactly what ill be doing!! rather than 0-0-0 though ill be taking the map off for a bit... i can do 500 miles in a couple weeks!
Hi,
I currently have an Audi A3 tdi 2.0 170 and do a daily commute up the M5 about 40miles each way, with very little around town driving. I'm getting about 40mpg out of it.
Thinking about getting a newish (09/10) S3 and wondering what sort of mpg you guys are getting on the moterways?
Am I making a costly mistake? I think I'd be happy if I can get 30ish.
Cheers
yea thats what i did, tho its a bit easier as i can do it myself with my box
haha gonna be doing some extra drives are we lol
Mine averages nearly 30mpg,and can go as high as 35mpg on the crawl in to work, and as low as 21mpg driven reasonably hard.
Not bad overall for an engine that turns out over 400bhp,as my Cosworths never got close to that sort of figure</p>
well i dont think i can afford to do much driving for the sake of it with 20mpg & £1.37 per litre V-Power
Not trying to cause trouble here but how can there be any truth in that statement if your car has circa 70Hp less than an S3??
Unless it's been remapped or driven hard I can't see how the figures add up?

Alex, how many miles you getting out of a tank?
Hi there....as much as 370miles,or as little as 300.
It usually doesn't vary much unless the traffic is awful or the roads are clear.
youve got to be the smoothest driver! i struggle to get 300 out of a tank!
haha well i drive as fast as i can unfortunately a lot of it is on & off the brakes... really kills the mpg!
am looking forward to when i can get coilovers & ARBs on the car and really tighten everything up, will make the country runs a bit more fun, hopefully i can get it sorted by the summer and my trip across the alps!
8-10 mpg, god that would be a killer with the way petrol prices are now!
They are effectively the same engine, but one has a bigger turbo on it and different map. Bearing in mind mine is a Quattro too. The normal 2.0T A3 dies have better fuel economy but this due to being two wheels drive...
It really will make a difference....without those mods, the car moves around a lot more, and you find yourself needing to brake earlier and harder to keep it all in line, and then of course having to accelerate after.
The Escort had been a GpN tarmac and gravel rally car before I bought it,so it was a pretty beastly car by any standards, and with ALS and it's other mods economy was never a possibility.

Wow! is it possible that cause your running a bigger turbo when you are cruising its more efficient? or am i being sstooopid saying that?
