remap warrenty?

more questions... would a remap affect carbon emissions and so hike your tax up (thereby notifying your insurance company)? that is of course depending on whether your MOT emissions test gets report if coming back as being higher. Has anyone had this?
are there any other disadvantages to getting a stage 1 remap? other than mpg reduction assumably!

generally after a remap the mpg will improve it did on my 2.0t petrol A3
just get a map from a company (bluefin) where you can remove the map when taking it in for any work.
as revo can still be detected because they don't put the original audi map back on the car unlike other companies.
however revo and GIAC get the better figures so get what works best for you!

as said it generally improves your mpg, unless you have a heavy right foot in which case it will get worse so no need to worry about the road tax
i was worried about the ability to remove it as well so i had an Evolve map put on mine & can put it on/remove it at will
problems, well depends what car its going on to if its going into a diesel a very very few people had had a problem with turbo failure but not numbers that you should worry about, if its going in to a S3 you WILL eat the clutch sooner rather then later so youll have to start saving for an uprated version, pretty much anything else and you should be fine

yeh i spose if you crash theyl eventually find a way to get out of paying you, thing is tho if you declare along with the current insurance rises youl end up paying loads. mite be worth the risk...
im planning to stage 1 remap a 56plate s3 with 54,000 miles; how long do you reckon id have left on that clutch?- it seems absolutely fine atm however is driven fairly hard. i read somewhere that the initial maps dont put too much strain on the stock hardware and that upgrades are not needed until stage 2 and higher, is this right?
from this forum and the various manufacturers' sites (bias included) the picture of stage 1 seems rosey; added performance, increased mpg, little or no added wear on existing stock parts. in fact the general consensus seems that the s3 is easily capable of alot more than factory presets allow. do those with remaps agree?

The s3 has an under engineered clutch and some fail in stock tune. Even stage 1 can can be problematic.
i see you have revo stage 1, hows it been? do u have the option of just 2 presets on your select switch?
i reckon youll have 3-5k miles tops before the clutch give in but all depends if your lucky or not the torque kills the standard clutch so you will have to replace it.
the rest of the stock parts are fine till you go 2+ or even 3 (big turbo conversion) tho you may want to upgrade parts like suspension/brakes, not because they will fail, but because of the additional power its just a good idea if you want to go beyond stage 1 just depends if you get the bug and cant stop like i did
If you don't declare you are effectively uninsured which becomes a criminal offence. If you think its worth the risk then why bother to insure at all ?
Suppose you were to run someone over and seriously injure them, the insurance would payout the third party claim if you were lucky but chances are they would take you too court to recover the costs which could well be in the 100's of thousands . You end up paying the rest of your life to settle the debt. If you cant afford to insure the car then buy a cheaper car but if you have a £1000 to remap and re clutch/flywheel then you have the insurance..
