All,

I have opted for this feature in my A3 Sportback order. Can anyone provide a full list of the features available?:)

Yup

Trip 1 and 2

1 is reset automatically if the car hasn't be used for over 2hrs.

2 is reset when you reset it yourself manually.

Both trips have the following:

Journey Time
MPG average
MPG current
Journey Distance
Range left in tank

Range left in tank - for Trip 1 and 2?

I think you meant overall range - the '1' or '2' indicator doesn't show for the range reading.. .

Car after mid 2006 also will give you the oil temp and the current speed on the dis as well. My March 2006 car doesn't tough.:(

The digital speed readout can also be changed to kph, which can be useful when driving in Europe.

With nav you also get the directions if navigating or the option of the compass which shows your heading and the name of the road you're currently on.

Menu system can be used to change the units used, force a reset of either trip 1 or 2, check the oil temp, VIN number, service interval etc.

yep,,
menu (oil temp and various other options)
trip 1
trip 2
Digital Speed Display
Compass Direction and Road Name (if you have sat nav fitted)

You will also get:
- Radio/CD track info in the DIS
- You can set a warning if you reach a certain speed.
- All sorts of warning icons and/or texts. e.g. Handbrake still on, Washer fluid low, Oil level low, Which lightbulb is defect, Which doors are still open, etc, etc
- Gear info (R D 123456) if you have DSG or regular automatic
- Phone info (caller ID, phone book) if you have the original Audi (bluetooth) phone kit

I hate looking at my average MPG lol It always changes and I feel horrible when its low lol. Wish it was more accurate to be honest but hey it's all good for consistent speeds :)

I thought it would be more like the Golf high line computer, where you are able to change a lot of the options.

Mine does!

as does mine...range in tank is the same anyway....
so if in trip 1 it says 200 miles, trip 2 will say 200 miles

But is there a '1' or '2' indicator for the range in tank reading? (or is it 'blank')

I'm sure there isn't because it is the same reading (as Diablo states) on both...

No there is no 1 or 2 indicator. When the fuel range is showing there is a petrol pump symbol on the left-hand side.

My point exactly. Thank you!

There's definately a 1 or 2 on mine.... but the reading is the same for both.

you can change what stuff you want to be displayed

Yep mine has the 1 and 2 showing on the right with the fuel symbol on the left.

I stand corrected. Looked at mine on the way to work this morning and sure enough it does still have the 1 and 2 in the top right as well as the petrol (or is it diesel) pump on the left. Surprising the simple things that you miss !

Good point. If like me you specified DIS and then later retrofit the RNS-E sat nav, DIS automatically receives messages from it as soon as it's in place. As well as the compass and road name or number, when navigating you also get a display showing estimated time of arrival, miles remaining until destination, miles until next instruction, a countdown bar when you're close to your next instruction, and - really cool this - directional arrows showing you which directions to take at junctions. It's especially useful at roundabouts. Plus the RNS-E can be set to display part of the current MP3 track name you're listening to.

I've always found DIS useful but partnered with the RNS-E it's absolutely brilliant - no need to keep glancing and focusing at the main screen when you're concentrating on driving.

Can scan through your mobile phone SIM contacts and see who is calling you on the DIS with the bluetooth option too.

Do all S3s have the lap timer funtion or is it only on post 08 models? obviously were talking 8P.

I'm fairly sure they all do though it is an option that can be switched off using VCDS.

On a thread related note, I like the DIS boost gauge on the RS3.

Think that option was added in 07/08 tbh guys.

Also my car is manual, it tells you what gear your in and shows you when to change up and down a gear, not sure why but it does. you can also do this...
-convenience windows on or off so you can open, close the windows with the remote from outside the car.
-convenienece indicators to tun that one touch for three flashes of the indicator on or off.
-door locking on or off when you go over a certain speed (10MPH I think)
-Service posistion for the front and rear wipers
There are other things but i cant remember without going out to have a look.

My 2006 doesn't have oil temp option or digital speed....be safer putting an 09 cluster in lol

What ???

Not that I need anyone (or thing !) to tell me what gear I'm in but, just out of interest, how do you get that on the DIS ?

Ill have a look to see what the option is called, I dont know how to take a picture of it in action a you have to be driving, unless I set up a camera mount or something....

Ive got the suggested gear option on my MY10 cluster but it doesnt do anything. Im guessing its either the CE or the ECU that would need upgraded to get it actually working.

Tried to get my other half to take a picture of it in action on the way to Tesco, she had to lean over to take the picture so sorry about the blur but you get the idea...
