hey guys.. im looking at buying an 07 or 08 s3. the thing is i want to get between 350 - 400 hp out of the engine. whats the best way of going about this and how much is it going to cost me.

hi there check this out..

The engine modifications you are after would take you up to Stage 2.

Stage 2 would go up to 320-330bhp and include

· AmD Rolling Road Tune Remap
· Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust System
· ITG Cold Air Induction Kit (recommend but not essential at this stage, (deduct £444 from total below if not wanted/required)

The price of this would £2183.40 inc vat with FREE fitting on the Milltek exhaust system. We do have a special offer running whereby we are offering 50% off our AmD remap when purchased with a Milltek Exhaust System. This would make the price £1933.40 inc vat. Saving £250.00.

Stage 3
400-450bhp

· AmD Rolling Road Tune Remap or REVO
· Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust System
· ITG Cold Air Induction Kit
· Autotec Up-rated Fuel Pump
· RS4 Injectors
· RS4 Fuel Pressure Regulator
· GT3071 Turbo conversion

£6500 inc vat. This is the ultimate tuning set up for the S3 but still keeping it usable. You can do it in stages and work up to the GT3071 this spreads the cost.

One thing to bear in mind is that Stage 3 (and Stage 2 + on some cars) can cause the standard clutch to slip, which would require an up-rated Sachs clutch kit, the price of this would be £1700 supplied and fitted including a new duel mass flywheel.

i have emailed some people and they believe that they can----
"uprade it to 320bhp via a download software this will take about 1hr of your time and the cost $1495.00 AUS single programe only drive away" (remaping ecu)

Does this sound right?

Also i live in sydney Australia so the prices will be different to Euro's.

s3kel's pricing is about right.

AMD Essex did all of the work on my car, which now runs the following:

VWRacing brake kit
Uprated Haldex controller
kW v3 suspension...

and the other bits..

GT3071
Revo Stage 3
RS4 injectors and fuel pressure regulator

Mine turns out about 440bhp and 420lbs of torque, and is completely useable as an everyday drive.

As mentioned, you will need to factor in a new clutch at Stg2+,as the OEM one simply won't cope, and you would also need to think about brakes and handling,as there is no point having 400bhp if it's doesn't stop or go around corners.

Don't even consider hybrid turbos,as the best you will get from a K04 hybrid is around 400bhp,and it will be at the limits to get there.

The people to contact are as above,Ben from AMD,and also Myles at GT3Turbo,who did all of the exhaust fitting work on mine,as the ATP kit is not quite a direct fit....edit!...missed the fact you're in Oz!...long drive.

The advice you have been given on the tuning is sound, although I think £1700 (~AUD 2200) for the clutch/DMF and fitting is a little rich.

As you are in Sydney you should PM Liam (known as LIMA on this site); he is an S3 owner/motoring journalist based in Canberra and also runs www.ausmotive.com. There is another guy on here from M5/Airport way in Sydney who is running a tuned S3, unfortunately I cannot remember his username (See Edit) - these guys will steer you in the right direct for a trusted tuner.

As for Stage 1 (Software only) I would look up Evolve - Jungleman is running their Stage 1 software with some excellent figures and they operate in AU I am sure.

Your quote of around $1500 is around double what you would pay in UK for the same software (inc. a handset); although I know that it is not easy to make a direct comparison to UK prices.

Edit: User is Maccaa from Georges Hall, NSW.

.

Cheers jimmy

Yea I'm running the evolve stage 1 at the moment and will testify to the quality of the map, if you have a look at my signature you will see the figures my car is running, all be it with an induction system and Milltek cat back system.

Evolve is quite a small tuning company, but with a big reputation, primarily in the BMW & Porsche tuning world. So very much doubt they will have a supplier in Australia, but they do deal directly with customers all over the world, so mapping your car with the evolve software won't be a problem.

Regarding additional engine work, given the climate of Australia I would go for an updated FMIC (intercooler) first as that would pull down your intake temperatures and make a huge difference to your car.

If you've got any questions about evolve feel free to ask me on here or pm me and I'll be happy to help

Paolo.

P. is quite right as they don't have a re-seller/agent in AU, but they do ship international - contact linky if you need it. Be aware that these guys are not affiliated with Evolve who supplied Jungleman - that's not a reflection on their product or service though.

If its any help, at stage 2, i was running 377 bhp and 355lb ft of torque when i went to the AMD RR day.

And don't forget that parts can be sourced second hand which is what most of my parts have been!

The Reekie is right fella - appreciating that you're in the land of Oz, but in the UK a Sachs organic clutch set up is around £800 including separate purchase of a DMF and slave cylinder / clutch release bearing unit. It's apparently 5-6 Hrs to fit to an S3, for which I paid £300. So in UK it's £1,100 fitted.

It's all worth it though...

Although £1700 does sound a lot by our standards, euro cars and car parts attract a very heavy premium in oz. Just have a look at the Australian audi website and see what they cost, you will be mortified!

I have a friend over there and her parents not long ago bought a mk6 gti and if memory serves me correctly it worked out at about £40k It's very scary so £1700 wouldn't surprise me in the slightest
