Does anyone know if there are any kind of retaining devices available for the recesses in the sides of a B6 Saloon boot?

The Passat I've got as a hire car has similar recesses and has removable plastic inserts which are really useful - although too big to retrofit to the A4 methinks.

There are 4 chrome hook/loop type thing's built in which you can use a cargo net which can be bought from main dealer. There was a group buy last year on this b6 forum, the cargo net has come in very handy over the past 12 month's

Aha that passat isnt looking bad now huh :)

I've got the retaining net for the boot floor, just want something for the sides.

@Nigel - I've did 350 miles in it on Wednesday and another 200 today and the only thing I really like about it are the plastic panels in the boot that stop your **** flying all over the place!

lmfao, hey I can hear the dealer saying I wonder where those side panels went.

That covers the whole boot floor - not really what I'm after.

I vaguely remember when I was looking at getting the A4, seeing a picture of the right hand side recess with a small cargo type net in it, along with a 12v accessory socket.

It's establishing if I really saw that or if it was an alcohol induced illusion.

@Nigel - I think they'd notice - they look like they are too big, but I'm going to measure them up when I get home on Monday just in case!

The socket and net are part of the storage pack.....I have them...

I got a 12V socket retro-fitted.

Only other storage "mod" I've seen are the shopping bag hooks in the top of the boot.

I looked briefly a while ago and found a few storage solutions that were basically boxes with velcro that held to the back of rear seats. Crap quality and overpriced for what they were. I actually think there is a market for a decent storage system with a range of compartments that can be removed installed quickly and is relatively compact when not in use.
You got a pic of the passat units you mention?

I'd go with the alcohol theory.

Where's your positivity, make it fit, hammer, dremel & loctite, job done.

This is a pic of the Passat jobbie I'm on about - crap pic, hopefully it works as I'm just on the iPhone currently.

Would anyone have a part number for the side nets that are part of the storage pack?

well i dont no about yours but my car has that kind of think on the lefthand side and that part you have taken a pic of would be easy to fit to are cars mate

On the left side of mine I've just got a hole - does the same job as the Passat panel though.

As for the right - I think the Passat panel is too big - haven't measured it yet though as I haven't an A4 to compare it to currently!

Hammer, Dremel, Loctite and Duct Tape might be required!

yep thats the part im on about on the left it has a piece in there you can lift out like a tub thing as for the right side id say the most you would need to do is cut it down a bit and fix it in mate

No tub on mine - just a carpeted hole. Got a part number?

Not sure how much the Passat part could take being cut down, due to the way it mounts in the boot. Nothing can beat a Dremel and Duct Tape though.

mine is carpeted as well but when i pull mine out i can see the buttom of the car part num 8e5 864 131 2z3

Any part numbers on those shopping bag hooks?

I'm thinking of retro-fitting them as I had them on a courtesy car the other day and found them really useful!

I've found this on Vagcat.com: Audi A4/S4/Avant quattro 2001

And according to the diagram, it looks like it's the part:

6Y5867615
Problem is that it's described as a "tie down hook".... now I know that the shopping bag hooks are actually for the cargo net, to stop delicat cargo's being crushed by the elasticated net, but it's not really a tie DOWN, is it?!?

I don't think thats right mate, that looks more of a hook to hang a bag from.

I've not got ETKA on here at the moment (and can;t find my discs currently ...) but I'll try and find a pic for you.

EDIT:

Found one;

update.... I've got it from a SAAB forum of all places!?!? (next best info was on a BMW site).... lots of people are retrofitting these Audi A4 hooks to other cars!

Saab Forum Link

The part numbers are:
Part Number Description
6Y5-867-615-B41 The actual hook, 2 are recommended
N-013-975-5 Mounting screws, 2 per hook, 4 total

And it turns out that AudiWorld have a sticky on this too: LINK

damn - just called my local Audi (Walton) and that's an invalid part number... so not available from them.

She said she checked the 2001 B6 parts and 2010 B8 parts (for the courtesy car that I had) and she couldn't find them... and they're not normally fussy about selling you any part*, especially if you have the part number already... very strange!

*except cut keys.... they're funny about that....

UPDATE:

OEMplus in the US ($25 + postage!)

Or your local VW dealership should have them for £5.52 inc VAT ;) Stock is limited, but can be ordered in... since it turns out that they're VW parts, that does make sense!

and you can't use the VW screws, so save yourself a couple of quid and don't order those... the hooks were a doddle to fit (alebit had to drill four small screw holes into the underside of the parcel shelf).

very happy - no more curries / fish n chips in the main cabin / sloshing about in the boot...
