I've read the definitive brake guide in the stickies, but it doesn't mention if there is any difference in brake size for the pre-facelift (210 bhp) S3. As no one has mentioned it, I'm assuming the front discs for a pre-facelift are 312mm (the same as the 225 bhp version).

I've just rang GSF Car Parts for a price though, giving the guy my car registration, and he quoted me a price for 288mm discs. I asked if that was the correct size, as I thought it was 312mm and he said he was pretty sure they are 288mm.

So basically, before ordering I would like to know the correct size for the front disc brakes on an 2000 plate pre-facelift S3 Quattro (210 bhp).

Cheers, Sean.

@ Cookstein - I typed my car registration into the Euro Car Parts website and it says mine is an APY, but when clicking on the disc brakes it doesn't mention the actual size of them.

@ JD09 - Ha ha, I've just gone on my iPhone to see what you were talking about (I'm using a work PC which doesn't display the full page correctly). Maybe I should have reconsidered when typing my thread title... at least it'll amuse a few though!

@ aragorn - Thanks for that information, I'll be checking that out when I get home.

All 8L S3's come with 312mm brakes as standard.

/End.

Cheers jojo, I will admit that I did just lie on the floor with a tape measure and eye it up. Although the sizes are only about an inch apart, it did look like 312mm to me.

mate your brakes are 312 x 25 mm vented for the fronts and 256 x 22mm vented for the rear. I am also on prefacelift APY and replaced them recenty with discs and pads from here:
Audi A3/S3 Brake Discs - Audi A3/S3 Brake Pads
Also, get four of the wee screws too and replace them if you can get em. They ar a right pain in the .... if the heads are screwed up and they cost pennies.
