Who started the Gym this year and is still going?

    As Above really all.

I started beginning of Jan and am still going. First few weeks i was going everyday but now i go 3-4 times a week so i dont injure myself. Just doing weight training even though i could probably use the cardio too!

Anyone else proud theyre still going?

or perhaps disappointed you gave up?

I have been going for quite a while, and i really enjoy it. I find it a great way to start the day as i train at 6am before i come to work.

If only i could sort my diet out to back up all my good work in the gym!! (sitting here eating a cheap chicken curry ready meal as i write!)

I've been going for about 10 years now. During the first 5 years I was at least four times stronger than the average man. I take it a bit easier now, so I'm probably only three times as strong. Basically, I'm a god.

o Yes, Me and the GF has been hitting her gym that her dad has built a few years ago. we have been training 2 times a week usually wednesday night and sunday morning at 8a.m hate not getting to ly in on a sunday morning but after an hour in the gym i feel great and full of energy.

im 5'' 11 and at the moment im 10stone so im pretty slim and at a normal height but its mainly the bumb bells and the bench press i use and for the last 15mins i jog on the treadmill along with doing situps and pushups each time i finish lifting weights etc

been doing it since start of jan 2011 every week without missing a day ( wed/sun) and i feel i can actually jog to the carpark from work ( 10mins walk) without being out of breath and feel alot healthier. definately keeping it up!!

Yeah but can he bench like me? I doubt it.

I was at the gym one day working out when one of the staff came up to me and said "Sorry Sir, you'll have to leave, no professional bodybuilders allowed".

With The Chinese Buddha in the driver seat?

    EDIT:=-
    Bit on topic,
I've not joined the gym, even thought I get a really good rate to use the one in work.
I've decided to eat better, cut out the crap and start to cycle and run a little bit more.
I've started the eating bit but not the running or riding, I might do that next week.

I joined midway through December, I went 4 times a week for two weeks and then last night was the first night this year lol. I hate a busy gym, and it seems to have calmed down enough now so as I can get on with what I want to do at my pace. fudging hurts today though serves me right for being lazy I guess lol

The beginning of the year is always mad, and takes a couple of months to settle down.

Now get back on it and stop being lazy!

    On a serious note....

The hardest part of going to the gym is keeping yourself motivated. For the past 5-6 years I've only been going through habit. Should've gone today, I've got my kit and everything. But did I go??? Nope I didn't.
I told myself I'll go tomorrow. Will I?? Time will tell, but I'm not putting any money on it.

The niggling little injuries pee me off too. At the moment my knuckles hurt, so it's hard to do any free weights (which I think caused it in the first place). So there's another excuse I use to justify not going at all.

The injuries are a nightmare! I started taking Glucosamine and cod liver oil tablets, in the hope that it would help my joints,as they seem to suffer.

I thought about that too, but realised that although it felt like my joints it was actually muscular/tendon.

In the past year or so my list of injuries are:

Shoulder - couldn't raise arm comfortably above head height.
Wrist - couldn't take the weight of a push up on it.
Neck - if held in position for too long it would ache.
Elbow - sharp pain when jabbing a punch bag.
Fingers - couldn't grip anything slightly heavy.
Lats - ached if I took a DEEP breath in.

i joined kissgyms when it first opened mate. it was only 10 a month at the time. its over in knowhill. Lots of weights etc and a **** load of running machines and bikes etc. Good place 24/7 too. No pool though but for 10 i dont care.

    kissgyms.com

Its good to see most have stuck it out. Even God himself.

I feel better for it and im getting stronger each week but i need to trim down the body fat. I just cant get motivated for cardio. It bores the **** out of me, id rather ride a proper bike but my current one has busted gears n cant be arsed to get it fixed. thats my problem right there

Thats where i go too! Cancelled my contract elsewhere and joined Kiss as soon as it opened. Like you say cant go wrong for a tenner, and to be honest i prefer it to Bletchley leisure centre where i was before, and i rarely used the pool there anyhow.

Do you go in the evening as i bet its very busy, its not bad in the mornings.

I pay 40 per month. And that's including a discount. And I can only go off-peak, i.e. before noon on weekdays. And I can't use any of the other gyms that are part of the same chain.

I do get free drinks from the fizzy drinks machine though.
Nope, scratch that. They got rid of the machine a few months ago because "fizzy drinks are bad for you and we care about your health".
I see they've still got the fridge in the corner though where you can BUY fizzy drinks.

Thats probably an average cost in general for a membership to be fair. But check the KissGyms website and see if they have plans for one near you, as they are opening more.

During the winter, I average 4-5 times a week at the gym, usually 2-2.5hrs each session. In the summer this drops to maybe 2-3 times a week, as I play a lot of golf and cricket, but balance it out by cycling to work 2-3 days a week, which is 15 miles each way.

Usually a 10k Row, 4 sets of free weights, 30mins bike, 4 sets of weights, 5k run, and ~20mins of abs.

Been doing that for the last 12 years, since giving up smoking, and even better, the University staff gym is only 55 per YEAR

I've also cut out starchy carbs (bread, potatoes, rice and noodles) for 6 days a week since January, and now almost back to the weight I was when at 21, which is coming up on 19 years ago, next month. Eeek!

    Cheers,
    Alistair

Basically cutting it short, i was a member at greens health and fitness... In January i took my gf there with me.. she had received untold amounts of calls/texts to join the club.. i had also not been sent my xmas package (my friend did, which contained a number of guest passes etc)

So anyway arranged to meet my mate there with my gf, waited at front desk for 20 mins, then asked for my gf to be signed in under guest pass at which point I was told you cant bring a guest in jan/feb... So i went on to say ok, she has received loads of calls/texts to join the club this week and i am now bringing her to train & potentially join. They basically said to me sorry were not letting her in... i went on to say "ok, so Ive arranged to meet my friend (another paying member of 54.50 a month!) here, Ive brought my gf here to join train and join, and now you are going to send me back out the door?" at which point the Dreg at the desk said "YES" so i lost it... asked for the manager, big scene bla bla...

anyway this was in January, I literally havent been to the gym since out of frustration.. started again last week and yesterday went in without my "entry fob" as Ive just moved out and cant find it... anyway i saw the monster woman who made a big deal that time at the desk on her own so i decided its best top just walk in and train... i come out the locker room and one of her collegues another "cock" who got involved on the day was just staring at me, so i stared back and he went ot me whats the problem at which i replied wat are you talking about? he made a big deal about fobbing in, which nobody ever does.. then asked if i had paid my fees? which i obviously had. so now Im fuming, at the same time the monster wa sbehind him mimmicking me going "oh dont ask him a question" as if im a crazed mentalist. so basically I switched! walked over to him and said why is your colleague standing behind you winding me up like that & he replied "i didnt see or herar anything!" oh amazing that considering shes right next to you so i then asked for a manager, there isnt one here he tells me so i just said your just another jobs worth like her trying to make me the bad one.. went upstairs & started training, few minutes later he comes up tryin to talk to me and i quite politely told him after what I saw of him downstairs hes obviously not much of a man & that I have no interest in anything he has to say.. Few mins later the manager who wasnt there!? Come up and asks me to leave with immediate affect...

so basically I got an easy way out of my contract & Greens health & fitness can go fukemsleves!!

So anyway arranged to meet my mate there with my gf, waited at front desk for 20 mins, then asked for my gf to be signed in under guest pass at which point I was told you cant bring a guest in jan/feb... hmmmm, tbh i dont like to touch peoples cars for the simple fact i have such bad lad with my car already i dont need anything else happening to it... after all they have my address.. but its VERY TEMPTING, especially the fat, ugly, horseman, Dreg woman that caused all this!

i did say to the guy that got involved "ill see you around" as i exited the premises... its one of them things, just like call centres when they all gang up cause there on the other side of the country... and all get boners over pissing someone off...

ive also tolf my GF to answer the next sales call from them and to tell them "they are jobsworths & all a bunch of c***ts" and put the phone down.. i know its sad but really am frustrated about all this...
