I have a 120 amp TDi one to go on mine when i drop the turbo motor in, it looks at first glance as tho it will fit without to much problem, other than maybe taking a lug off the alternator annd fitting a spacer to the rear mount
Yeah the 2.7T is 120A as well... probably ample for any reasonalbe size setup (aiming for 1500W RMS currently) - but still, while the engine is out I may as well get a new one in there and an upgraded one while I am at it
Apparently the TDI one will fit... so watch this space.
I am running 4awg cable from the alternator - battery. Multiple earth straps from the engine to the chassis and 0awg cable from the battery earth to the chassis. That should solve any current flow issues I have.
Will report back and let you know if it has solved my dimming issues. Last thing needed is newer battery and a nice monoblock
Ended up running 0awg cable from the alternator to the battery . Running 0awg from the battery -ve to the earth too... so there should be ample cable in place.
Not sure if I am going to see any benifit from the TDI alternator... as this could also be 120A - and probably cost me a bomb! either way... I got a nice shiny new alternator in there, some good hardcore cabling ready for a nice install once i get some money in the bank again.
Well the latest report is WOW - what a difference. The sound from my standard amp is MUCH improved. That is only pulling about 6-800W at the time. Upgrading the wiring I think made the biggest difference. This is a very worthwhile upgrade if you are running a few hundrew Watt
