B7 or 8E

Most of my pals refer to my 05 A4 2.0T Avant as B7, but the specs sheet clearly states the chassis is 8E.

Can anyone clarify this please?

Yes your friends are right about the B7.......the parts number for your spec of car or generally an A4 over 2001 begin with 8E IIRC but the technical model name of the car is the B7 i have a B6 (2002) and soupie69 for example has a B5 model. I have searched the net for Audi naming convention explainations but have come up with nothing. Can anyone else help?

Yes it's still an '8E' but a late '8E'.

8E = 2001 - Present

i.e B6 AND B7

B6 is 8E0, B7 is 8E2.
