Hi all. Iv got a 06 plate sline tdi avant and was wondering if it would harm the car if I had it chipped as before I had a golf gti and had no problem. Thanks

Hej,...makes no difference.....just have a search for the topic. Most members go for remaps from reputable tuning shops. I am not aware of anyone harming their engines with s remap or diesel tuning box at stage one level.

It can put more stress on the clutch and gear box,although you can ask for something that's not to bad on the clutch.
Also the Blb engine has a problem with the oil pump/balencer shaft and maybe this should be upgraded first,not because a remap will make it worse but just to prioritize your spending so you don't loose your engine.

It can to a certain extent, some maps are smoother and more progressive than others but in reality the biggest factor is your driving style. A stage 1 driven normally will not put excessive strain on things but should make the car more pleasant to drive where as a stock car that's ragged about and driven hard will do more damage.
From my experience the initial increase in power is forgotten about and lost with in a week or two, you just get used to it but for me it's how it makes the power and delivers it that makes the remap a worthwhile thing to do. A smoother power band with no flat spots just makes the car much nicer to drive.

Steve, yes I agree if you were going beyond stage 1 or if you were gunning it everytime...your clutch would take a pounding....and that Balancer shaft should be looked at before anything, going by the posts on this engine.
