hi guys, gone to remove my ecu to send of to be checked, iv got the box open but where the wires connect to the ecu itself its like in a little cradle and from what i can see i have to remove this to unplug it, but the only way to do this is to remove the ecu case and undo 2 screws, is the way to do this reallly???????

yes
thats the way you do it

or if you dont want to remove the screws
get a grinder
whats up with the ecu ?

sending it off to be checked, due to my recent misfire and smoking woes

i undid the screws but that casing is on pretty tight, do you just lever it up?

ok so i have it removed. i would strongly advise against removing the ecu cover, its sealed on and you cant do ***** once its off anyway.

hacksaw blade in the top of the torque bolt thingy and screwdriver the son of a gun. simples

iv never had a problem removeing the ecu
what ecu cover do you meen ?

spoke to the ecu people today and they have said that the ecu fitted does not match the engine and that its for the blb engine which was originally fitted. but my car does run so surely if this was the case the car wouldnt?

im confused, as the ecu tells the engine what to do? so even if the ecu is different it should adjust for this?

after all the blb and bkd engines are pretty much the same.

how would i go about finding out which is the right ecu for that engine?
