Of what I've read I thought this was riveted into place?

due to that I sanded mind down and wrapped it in some carbon.

you can remove it, but its a bit of an **** to get out.

Ideally you need to slacken the internal door frame from the outer skin.

pita job but doable
sand down and pain it on the car or wrap.

Cheers sounds like a bit of a mission i was hoping it would come off easy but wasn't optimistic that it would. think ill defo sand it down whilst on the car and i like the sound of wrapping it in some carbon actually will give it a go and post up some pics thanks all

Done this on my 99 A4. Its actually pretty easy. Roll window down, remove the inner plastic trim, and pull down the foam, you will find the securing nut. Once the nut is removed the part can be wiggled out of place.

Replacements were around£30-35 from Audi.

i did this on my facelift and yes its fiddly but definately do able, and i didnt have to losen pillar i carbon wrapped mine
