S4 oil usage

So the old girl is getting alittle long in the tooth, well over 180K on the clock.

Noticed she's starting to burn more than a little oil. Not sure exact quantities, but I do notice on still, cool days, I see a little puff of "blue" in the rear mirror when I pull away.

I wonder if this means the turbo fairy is due a visit!

So how much oil do other S4's go through, per 10K?

I would start saving for the turbo fairys visit..

Seriously, have you taken a peak in the IC pipes, a film of oil there can be an indication. Although it is possible for oil to leak from the seals directly into the exhaust and just atomoise there.

So just undo the jubilee clips and check the insides of the pipes?

Our 1.8T used about a litre every 2k and that was at 195k.

Turbine did show signs of oil contamination when i pulled the motor though.

Still on original turbos.

Used to do 30+K a year of mainly motorway miles, but now only do about 12 miles a day back and fore to the train station. I think that's what's caused them to go!

ThinkI am losing about the same, 5 litres for 10K miles.
