Puddle -> Battery light on ->Steering heavy???

Whenever i go through a largish puddle on the passenger side, the battery light will come on and the steering will go really heavy.

Checked the battery and its dry, no water on it, it only does it on the passenger side with large puddles. Checked in the bay on that side and cant find anything, nothing wet etc

Anyone got any ideas what it could be??

Sounds like serpentine belt needs tightening up. When it gets wet it could be slipping causing lack of charge and lack of power steering pump.

Does the light go out and steering return to normal after a few seconds?

Yeah it does!

Sounds like the belt is a little slack then. Get it checked for tension and condition. Also check the tensioner is working on it.

What engine is it? 1.9tdi have an alternator clutch pulley that fails and can damage the tensioner and belt.

Its a 1.9tdi bud, ill get it looked at this week then
